Say it with Flowers

Well I'm gradually catching up now with all my cards to show you
and this collection are all about the florals...

This gorgeous frame is a Hero Arts/Pinkfresh collaboration and I couldn't wait to try
it embossed on dark card so I could use Prisma colour pencils to add some colour...

When I had finished this next card I had flower pot envy!! Love this die set from MFT,
all the pieces are well thought out and make such cute gardening tools, bench and flowers..

Flowers on the go!! Flora & Fauna have such whimsy images and this little van is
just one of them. For a background I thought I'd try some subtle pattern making with
a few smaller images... love the effect 😊

Saving my favourite til last and these silhouette stems from MFT are such a dream to stamp in
layered colours thanks to my MISTI ... I was especially pleased with the daisies!
The vase is actually a take out coffee cup die that's been given a contemporary look.

Well that's all for this post, not sure what the next collection will be,
think we are heading towards a miscellaneous assortment!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Cheers & Beers

It's another inking for the beer bottle this week for a 60th birthday card, I love
trawling through my alphabet stamps and dies to make up these typography style cards..

Keeping all your alpha stamps and die sets together makes this job a lot easier
then it's just a case of playing around on scrap paper. Having an image helps as a
starting point for sizing and layout.

I'm quite pleased how this card turned out :)

Birthday Shout Out!

A break from Christmas cards today to share this card I made for a family birthday,
this Town Cryer is great for a guys card and fun to colour too..

I paired him up with the buildings from a Mama Elephant set and left them uncoloured
so he would take centre stage... with a booming voice I think he already has centre stage!

Fa La La La LLama!

I think Llamas are still in this year and with a name like
that they fit so well in this sentiment too 😄

The Fa la la die is great... much easier than cutting all those
A's and L's from a regular alpha die!

That little llama looks quite dirty against the pure white snow! At least he's nice and
snug with his scarf on although with a coat like that I'm not sure he needs one!

Hooray, Yippee

Here's a bunch of happy kids... you can feel their excitement jumping off the card!!
I've used the new big alphabet dies from MFT to give them something to be happy about :)

I can't resist an alphabet die set... and this one is a good size.
I went with a retro colour palette and didn't fuss much with the colouring

Happy Birds

I'm getting a few cards ready for wedding season and I thought these birds
would look quite tweet for the occasion...

I've used a leafy branch and flower from the same Birds of a Feather die set to
to make a flowery filled frame. I've stacked four frames to add dimension and
to sandwich the leaves and flowers between them.

A rectangle of ink blending behind the frame and voila... a clean and simple congrats
card that could also be used for engagement wishes...

Caution..... Big Birthday!

Now this the the style of card that I love to make and send
to people... it will make the recipient smile for sure 😊

That happy Policeman just gave me the idea for this design and I couldn't wait to make
my own hazard tape to wrap across the Big Birthday...

I kept the scene simple and just added a traffic cone, I freehand cut myself, and
a cloud line in white for subtle detail on the top half of the card.

Photo Booth Gang

Here's a happy gang.... looks like they had some fun in the photo booth!!

I knew as soon as I got hold of the photo booth strip die that these
Mama Elephant images would look great in the square spaces....
just a good job they were the correct size 😉

I used sentiments from the same set and embossed one along the bottom of the strip.

The background was fun to make by sponging ink through various sizes
of circles and then adding sparkles in the same colour.

I can honestly say I've never had a good photo from a booth.... clearly you need
to be mucking about and having a laugh for the best results 😄

A Bearthday!!

Love these bears from Avery Elle, the simplicity in the illustration makes them easy to
colour and I tried to get a few different bears amongst them...

If you pull on the tab, one of the bears raises a sign to complete the greeting!!

I used the double slider die from MFT to make the pull tab mechanism and I have a few
more details and photos over on the Seven Hills crafts blog here, but this is basically
what it looks like before adding the bears and frame on top of the pull tab....

Baby Box

I've finally got round to using the Mini Pop Up Box die from Lawn Fawn, it makes
such a cute card and what better occasion to use it for than the arrival of a cute baby...

I used MFT's baby clothes die to cut a trio of garments and the celebration balloons
from Mama Elephant to add a bit of height to the arrangement....
here's a photo of the opened card..

I made a couple of nappies using the bottom and sleeves of the onsie in the die set,
I have more details and photos on the Seven Hills Crafts blog here to show you.

I kept the front of the card simple, using a sentiment from MFT and a twine wrap to help keep the card closed. The cute star charm is from the pop up box die.... the perfect finishing touch.

Uncork and Unwind with a Pop up Card!

Well that's quite an invitation for a title!!
I was inspired to make this pop up slider card after watching the hugely creative
Jennifer McGuire's video here... the only difference is, I don't have the die set she
used but could see how the MFT Blueprints 28 would work instead...

So here are a few photos to show how I used the large opening flap panel in the set
to make the sliding pop up portion. I started by scoring the flap in two places and
adding a thumb cut just above the hinge

I pretty much followed the assembly instructions in Jennifer's video... by adding the
strip of contrasting card along the bottom edge of the flap you also cover the unwanted
thumb notch the die puts in for you.

The rest is just down to adding decoration to the front of the slider... I went for the MFT
wine service dies as this was for a particular friend who loves her red wine 😉
I was quite chuffed this worked out in the end.... yay for stretching those supplies!!

Royally Fabulous Day

How do you celebrate a girly 40th birthday?.... with a pink crown of course!!

Now pink and girly is totally out of my own comfort zone but I have to say, it
was fun to make this card..

.... fun until I had the great idea to add the feathers for a fluffy trim!! Next time I'd use a dry adhesive because wet glue was a nightmare...... talk about being tarred and feathered 😆

I used pink distress oxides and micro glaze on glossy card stock to make my own panel to cut the crown from and then added extra layers for dimension. It had to have bling, on the crown and behind it.... love the Bitty Burst background in a mix of colours too!

Bespoke Sneakers

August was a busy month for birthdays!!
This was a fun one to make as I just knew the young recipient would
love a pair of sneakers like these :)

I used a Hero Arts background stamp with black ink to make the scripty material for the boots.
I cut the shoes and all the trimmings and then, when they were all assembled, I laced them up with a rainbow cord... Love it :)

I actually think I'd quite like a pair of these too.... and how funky does that
radiating dots background look heat embossed in white!

Making a House a....... Church!

I've been exploring the Home Sweet Home dies from MFT, the dies cut out a collection of basic building block shapes and I had a little playtime to see if I could come up with a church because that tall narrow house said 'Tower' to me.....

I kept the colours and design simple..... I love white and Kraft together for wedding cards :)

To make the main body of the church... (think it's called the Nave)... I cut one of the other houses in the set just above the windows...

The doors in the set were too large once I had changed the scale up so I used the arched window shape from the narrow house as a door... looks much better!!
I had to slightly adjust the tree size and shape too and the shrub is half of the topiary tree from the set...

I'm quite pleased with how it turned out :)

A New Home Card

We're a couple of weeks into the month already but you still have time to join in the April challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts... this time we have a sketch for you and this is my take on it using some of the recent New Home dies from MFT...

Apologies for the harsh light in the photo, I was trying to capture the detail in the white on white background!! As you can see from the sketch below, I changed up the centre shape and added some brick work texture with a stencil, then used the fence in place of the diagonal stripes.

Those little house dienamics are just adorable to build up and are the perfect size as a keyring too.

Here's the sketch if you'd like to join us in the gallery, all the details can be found here :)

Girly Encouragement

Hi there :)

Here's a card that will hopefully make you giggle 😄
The nappy die in the Oh Baby dienamics from MFT totally inspired this card...

I had a light bulb moment when I realised the Scalloped Edge borders would make the
perfect trim for a pair of panties and the tiny star background a perfect subtle material pattern.

I was scratching my head on how to put the card together and fit all the phrasing on
the card until I realised the Journaling alpha dies were a great size to
put on the panties, or knickers as we call them over here!

Two Masculine Cards

Hi there :)
Not the most original title but I'm playing catch-up with my DT cards... I have to say that these cards are not exclusively for a guy but it's always nice to find stamps that will cover those 'hard to make' cards :)

The beginning of November is awash with birthdays in this neck of the woods and this is one of the cards I made....

I fancied doing something different and colouring those piggies as rare breed piglets... great for having fun with Copics. Love how they're parading across the card... just what the sentiment calls for :)

This second card is pretty gender neutral too and you could easily leave it open inside until you know the occasion you're sending it for :)

This TV looks not too dissimilar to our set when we were growing up ;) I love the 'fuzzy screen' stamp to go with these MFT dies.... I can certainly remember having to move the aerial around to make the picture clearer!! To add a bit of colour to the scene I added a small leafy plant.... the leaves are oval shadow dies cut in green card and arranged in the planter :)

Penguins and Macaroons!

We've had a busy half term week starting with a family wedding which took place at London Zoo... it was great fun and we made a weekend of it, staying in London with close family to celebrate the happy day. We kept forgetting we had our posh gear on walking around the zoo!!.... we wondered why folks were looking or perhaps it's because we were trying to get a family photo with the very obliging penguins at Penguin beach!!?? :)

Anyhow, onto my card for Seven Hills Crafts this week and I tried my hand at water-colour painting on a die cut ....

I made this card for a friend who loves her Cornishware crockery so the mug had to have those bold blue stripes too and it was easier to die cut it from watercolour card and paint them on myself using distress inks. The macaroons are stamped with coloured ink onto the same card so they had a no line effect when I'd finished painting them....

I just happened to flick through a paper pad and found a good match in this pretty pastel check so that helped to finish the card design... mmmm I just want to pick one of those macaroons up right now :)

I'm linking up to the AAA cards challenge which is Watercolour... I rarely get time to play in challenges anymore so it's always a happy coincidence if my card fits a theme and the DT have some great inspirations projects to show you too if you click the link above :)
