For the Guys

Hello folks.... I'm back with another 'catch up' instalment of cards and today is all about
the men! As I make cards to sell in a local shop, I always create a few extra Father's Day cards
and, although like a parent you shouldn't have favourites, I'm afraid I did which I'm sharing here..

If you visit often you'll know I can't resist a pun so this Lawn Fawn sentiment paired well
with an older Paper smooches stamp but I have to say I really love those paint
swish dies in shades of blue as a backdrop the most :)

Another fun card that's text based (pun intended) ... love the bold graphic style
all finished off with that cute phone die cut :)

Dad's and beers equals cheers, love this new stamp and die set from Waffleflower..
that's quite a head on that beer too... is that a good thing??

Now this was the actual card I sent to my dear Dad, the stamped image does take quite a few years off him but he knew it was meant to be him!! During lockdown he had to get to grips with
Zoom and Skype... he managed okay with a lot of help but it's much better to be
able to see him in person again now!

Not forgetting those dad's that are the Hero's without capes....although I don't actually
agree with the killing of spiders.... rather they be caught and liberated elsewhere!!

This is a riot of colour... a nod to Pop Art using a VW Beetle from a
Christmas die set finished off with a pun.

Only one card actually mentions Father's Day I hear you say!... that way they can be
used all year round... clever eh? 😉

Cheers & Beers

It's another inking for the beer bottle this week for a 60th birthday card, I love
trawling through my alphabet stamps and dies to make up these typography style cards..

Keeping all your alpha stamps and die sets together makes this job a lot easier
then it's just a case of playing around on scrap paper. Having an image helps as a
starting point for sizing and layout.

I'm quite pleased how this card turned out :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Birthday Beer

This is the first time this stamp set has seen ink... and oh boy was it fun to use!
Thanks to the MISTI stamping tool, inking these bottles was a dream,
I love starting with a light shade and then adding deeper colour on certain areas
of the stamp to create shape and shadow..

The other small touch that made me so happy is cutting the bottle tops in
Mirri card... my Dad was quite impressed with them too 😊

I borrowed a sentiment from a different stamp set by the
Colorado Craft Company because I just love that font. Now that's my
idea of a clean and simple guys card 😉

Father's Day Legs

Father's Day is approaching and I had to colour up these Colorado Craft Company stamps..

I tried the loose watercolour style of laying different shades of blue for the golfers trousers.. this involves waiting for colours to dry which is something I struggle with!! I'm pleased with how it turned out though. The background plaid is made using a plaid builder set from Concord & 9th... why have I waited so long to get this set inked up??

This image is perfect for all those BBQ kings out there.... I've used Polychrome pencils to
colour and then held my breath as I used distress inks to give a poloroid style colour
cast around the edges of the image..... I think it worked quite well 😊

You get a mix of sentiments in each set and of course you can change it up with other
sentiment sets you have which makes these images usable for any occasion.

Colorado Crafts stamps are available in the UK at Seven Hills Crafts and my
DT blog post for these cards can be found HERE

I'll Be Brief!

That's the name of the stamp set but yes, this is a short blog post too 😏
It's time for a new challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts blog and this month is a sketch..

This one had me pondering for a while until I came across the new set from Lil'inkers called I'll Be Brief, I rotated the sketch and those bars became washing lines 😉

It doesn't look a particularly sunny day to dry the washing though does it??!!

Does the sketch inspire you to play along too?... I hope so, we'd love to see you in the gallery :)
Hop over to the blog here for all the challenge details and link up gallery 😊

I've used red, white and blue so it fits with this weeks challenge over at Less is More too which is the colours of your countries flag so I'll pop it in over there 😄

Thanks for stopping by :)

A Chef and a Llama!!!

Hehe... well that could be a scene from The Muppet Show or the opening line to a joke I suppose but it's actually the characters on a couple of DT cards I have to share with you today....

I couldn't resist this scenario with a flipped pancake on the floor and this chef looking a little embarrassed and surprised!! I tucked the pan and spatula behind his back and set him with a brick wall backdrop, the pancake is an oval die-cut coloured with Copics. I mixed and matched the sentiment from different stamp sets so it's easier to leave it chopped up on the card ;)

Next card, and this funny llama has the best expression .... it goes so well with the clever sentiment..

I was channelling the Inca style (I think!!) with the bright stepped up border and stencilling on the Kraft card. Perfect card for a guy, in fact both cards are..... got to love stamp sets that are unisex :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Computer Says....?

Hellooo :)

I'm over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a simple interactive card using the Blogging Buddies stamp set... I've had this idea kicking around in my head ever since I saw a similar graphic printed onto a T-shirt...

I'm glad I went with the concentric circle background.... it sort of looks right with the computer and draws your eye to the images. When you pull the tab the task bar fills with colour...

and on the inside the birthday message has loaded...

I have a couple of photos over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog showing how I constructed the simple pull tab mechanism if you are interested... its exactly the same way I made the interactive part for my Smoothie card back at the end of May :)

A Colour Challenge at CASual Fridays!!

Good Morning everyone...
Last weeks challenge made a stunning looking gallery with some amazing colour combinations against your black base cards and this week we have three colours for you to play with in this weeks CASual Fridays challenge...
You can make any card or project you want as long as these three colours are the main focus.
This weeks generous sponsor is Stop&Scrap, they have an amazing online store stuffed full of yummy stash... go check it out :0)

Well no matter how much I tried to think otherwise, I saw these colours as perfect for a guys card so I went with a geometric design...
.... these little rectangles are the waste from the Dienamics film strip die and this is just one cool way I wanted to use them because I just love the tiled effect...... do you see a grey blue dot in the white intersections ???  You're eyes are playing tricks on you of course!!!
To keep it suitable for a guy I kept the embellishments to a minimum and no bows either... guys cards are the perfect time to make a CAS card :0)

I hope you have fun with this colour combo and I look forward to seeing how you use them.... don't forget to visit the rest of the Girl Fridays to and see how the colours inspired them too :0)

Thanks for looking

Masculine mode!!

**** If you are here on the Young Crafters Unite Blog hop
scroll down to the post below for my cards ***
Thanks for all your lovely comments :o)

I love the ColourQ palette this week but was having trouble thinking of them on anything else but a guy's card....yep another one! So I just decided to die-cut some shapes from card-stock and pushed them around on the card before arriving at this design which also fits in nicely with CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week 'Off the Edge'

I used a Dienamics die called Mini Pennant with a sentiment and die set from Papertrey Ink.
The button is an old treasure I found in my mums button box a while ago....I can remember my Nan had buttons like this on her woollen coat when I was a child and I was fascinated by them, they look like old leather footballs don't you think!!!?

Well Rolo has finally crashed out on the bathroom floor....I think the tiles are cooling him down, it's November the 5th and that means fireworks!! He  really hates them and works himself up into a sweat... he sat for a while earlier under my craft desk cowering and panting before I noticed he was dribbling into a box of papers..... AAARGH!!!!  only two pieces of vellum spoilt *phew*

No fireworks for us, as usual, because James doesn't like them, but then when the neighbours put on such a good display why buy you're own!!
Hope you have a fun and safe Guy Fawkes weekend if you're having a display.

I'll catch up with all your lovely makes tomorrow because I need to go to sleep now, as long as the firework party doesn't resume, then I'll have a quivering dog dribbling on me! ... I've had a few late nights this week and I'm beginning to look like a panda !
Thanks for looking X

You're a Star!

Hi Everyone,

I've had a crafty morning and managed to make a couple of cards but the one I'm sharing with you today is for ColourQ and Less is More.
The colour palette at ColourQ was giving me a few problems until I saw the Less is More Challenge this week for  'Stars' and then the penny dropped.
I used the sketch from The Paper Players and had every intention of entering it but alas the challenge has closed....hey ho!

The stars are Dienamics dies, some of which have been de-bossed with a Quickutz goosebumps texture die.
The grid stamp is from Kaisercraft and the sentiment is PTI.

It's a lucky dip week over at Less is More which means Mandi and Chrissie have a guest designer joining them and this time the talented Vicky has the guest spot, do pop over and see their inspirational cards and join in the fun :)
I'm also entering this into the 'Anything Goes challenge' at Simon Says Stamp

So tomorrow we are carving our three home-grown pumpkins....I'll be sure to take some photos to share with you. :)
Hope you're enjoying the weekend and don't forget to turn the clocks back if you live in the UK!!!!

OLW-Fathers Day

Fantastic Friday everyone ,

...... yes fathers day is just around the corner and this week over on Susan's blog at OLW we are making cards for the men in our life . It can be a traditional Fathers day or for any male figure in your life who's in need of some recognition :)

I've used the tie from a Woodware set of stamps and cut one of them out so as to reveal the coloured paper insert underneath. The sentiment is another Woodware set called Retro words , love these , they get used a lot :)

I made the card blank myself as I do prefer landscape cards and get tired of the square or A6 size so I bought some thick (290gsm) A3 card to make these , I can get two DL and one slightly slimmer from one sheet :)

The ironing got done as did some house work so I felt justified in making this card yesterday evening :)

Thanks for stopping by and saying 'Hi' X
