Say it with Flowers

Well I'm gradually catching up now with all my cards to show you
and this collection are all about the florals...

This gorgeous frame is a Hero Arts/Pinkfresh collaboration and I couldn't wait to try
it embossed on dark card so I could use Prisma colour pencils to add some colour...

When I had finished this next card I had flower pot envy!! Love this die set from MFT,
all the pieces are well thought out and make such cute gardening tools, bench and flowers..

Flowers on the go!! Flora & Fauna have such whimsy images and this little van is
just one of them. For a background I thought I'd try some subtle pattern making with
a few smaller images... love the effect 😊

Saving my favourite til last and these silhouette stems from MFT are such a dream to stamp in
layered colours thanks to my MISTI ... I was especially pleased with the daisies!
The vase is actually a take out coffee cup die that's been given a contemporary look.

Well that's all for this post, not sure what the next collection will be,
think we are heading towards a miscellaneous assortment!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Plant Lady

Well it's been a while but I'm trying to get caught up again with my DT makes
for Seven Hills Crafts and I made this card to highlight the arrival of Flora & Fauna stamps
back into the store..... I cannot resist anything green and growing!! 😃

You can mix and match the pots and plants in this set and some are solid so you can be
creative with your inking, I trimmed all the plants out with scissors and then broke out the
Faceted Turnabout stencil from Concord and 9th for a background.

Oh my goodness, this stencil is fantastic! You don't need a stamp positioner to use it and
the results are amazing. I used three shades of yellow Distress Oxide ink which
also leaves you with a gorgeous chalky finish to your backdrop

I'm thinking it reminds me of a paved terrace for all
those potted plants to live on 😊

Leafy Thoughts

It's quite a sunny autumn day here today so I thought I should share this card before the season
makes a definite change!! I was inspired to use my Flora and Fauna stamps and these
three rectangles of card sitting on my desk which are perfectly usable die cut waste...

Not sure what this technique is called but its sort of like spotlighting the three areas and to do this I used my good ol' MISTI and some scrap paper cut to the same size as my card front..

This is what I ended up with..... then it was just a case of lifting the rectangles
off of the scrap piece and mounting them onto the card front
whilst matching up the leafy pattern.

Very dainty and summery.

Winter Bear Hugs

I love this cuddly bear!!.... never thought of him as retro looking but this
card comes across like that!

Perhaps its the colours I used and the black trees in the background but
I'm quite pleased how this card turned out

Another card for my stash...
not everyone wants a jolly, happy or merry Christmas card

Holly Jolly

I'm still cranking out Christmas Cards and I wanted to use this die set from Wplus9.
This was my first card, having watercoloured some holly sprig die-cuts from Flora & Fauna,
I love the pop of bright green against the white woodgrain.

I used gold powder to heat emboss the Holly Jolly sentiment whilst still intact in the
sentiment bubble which meant I had the outer piece left over to make a second card....
this is my favourite of the two.

Pastel Baubles

I'm a 'traditional Christmas' colour girl at heart, loving my greens and reds but I have to say that muted pastels are up there too in a close second. I was inspired by the bird in
this Flora & Fauna set to try and make some masked tree baubles in
dusty pink, blue and beige... love how they turned out.

I think these may be my cards this year, I love the softness of the colours and they
are a nice design to make in batches too.

I sponged soft grey through a mask and then added the foliage and bird through the mask too.
The little bow and hoop are made using dies and they add a little bit of
dimension to an otherwise one layer design :)

Christmas Flora & Fauna

Nothing like new Christmas stamps to inspire some seasonal crafting!!
I've used a few stamps and dies from the latest Flora & Fauna release to make these two cards..

Now that's what I call a warm winter hat... just what a little penguin needs when he's waiting for Santa to arrive. I love the simple four block border of Buffalo plaid in the Texture 7 stamp set... great for lining up or stacking to make your own pattern.

This is my fave of the two.... I used a solid stamp for the sky and inked it in three different blues then added a curve of glitter paper and three die cut trees.... fab collage effect :)

A Classic!

Sometimes.... well most of the time actually, I don't think about the sentiment for a card or plan where I'm going to put it... well not for this card!! The sentiment inspired the whole thing 😊

You can't get more classic than a VW van and this die from Flora and Fauna is just so fun! Its a great size and simple enough to paper piece whilst still adding those chrome details.

This card came together quite quickly.... perhaps I need to start with the sentiment more often... or at least work out where is should go 😉

Tropical Bird-Day

Well this card turned out better than I expected, well it's more the ink blending that turned out better than I expected actually and thank goodness for oxide inks which over-stamp beautifully on darker colours!! That swoosh of green really makes those colourful birds stand out and the circle frames die was a good investment too, much easier than positioning a single die four times through the big shot... too much room for error 😉

I used the mirror stamping technique to make one of the parrots face in the other direction, not had a lot of success with that technique in the past but the many 'stamp positioning platforms' on the market make that a lot easier!

All Typed Up!!

I'm a little late to the retro typewriter trend!!
I'd love one... the closest I had was a child's toy typewriter
made by a company called Petite which worked well although you really
had to hit some of the keys hard!!!

I had to have the Typewriter die from Flora and Fauna, it's just so cute and
easy to feed a piece of paper through for making typed sentiments.

Love this colour combo... couldn't resist a splash of gold,
that would be a classy typewriter!!

Snail Mail

I'm loving pretty much all of the stamps Flora and Fauna bring out, the sets mix and match so well and you have endless possibilities whenever you add to your collection!!.
I couldn't resist making a snails-eye-view scene on this one layer note card....

I stamped everything in Distress Oxides and just moved the colour around with a damp brush......well, apart from Mr Snail.... I had to add extra colour to him.

Christmas Colour Challenge

Well we're now into November... how did that happen!!???
Christmas is just around the corner and we have the last challenge of 2017

Time for a colour challenge and naturally we'd like you to make a Christmas themed card or project using at least three colours from one of the palettes below :)

Now some of the more eagle-eyed readers will wonder where the blue is in the third set of colours!!
It seems my printer did not give me a true colour likeness and this is the result... well we can imagine it's a very blue grey ;)

I've used trees from Flora & Fauna's Holidays Watercolour set and decorated some with white gel pen doodles. You can just about make out the pale icy blue snow hill and the sprinkling of snow falling. It just felt right to use that sentiment from Scandinavian Prints Christmas by Neat & Tangled :)

All the challenge rules and prize details can be found here along with the link up gallery... we'd love you to play along with us in our last challenge of 2017!

Seasonal Flora

It's a Monday morning and I have lots of jobs including an ironing pile that's ready to topple so it's only natural I'm on blogger instead!!! I had to pop by with a couple of cards to share that are quite autumnal....

This is my card on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today and those rich colours just make me happy :)
I had intended to try the emboss resist layering technique with these lovely quilled leaves from Newtons Nook but I grabbed the white embossing powder instead of clear so had to change it up!!

It's a sort of happy accident I think because I loved adding those intense seasonal shades to the leaves instead and the heat embossing kept the watercolour contained :)

You can find more details and links to supplies for this card on the Seven Hills blog here.

This next card is not so richly coloured but seasonal nevertheless...

Water-colouring die cuts is always something I forget to try but the effect is just lovely and these dies from Flora and Fauna are some of my favourite.... I feel a Christmas design coming from this card 😉

Details for this card can be found on the Seven Hills blog here

Thanks for stopping by.... I'm off to tackle the Matterhorn of ironing!!!

Plants and Caterpillars!

Hello again, I'm trying hard to keep up to date with sharing my DT projects for Seven Hills Crafts so I have a couple more for you today....

Yep, I have a plant/greenery theme again today starting with this Indoor Garden stamp set from Altenew which I just love...

The hand-drawn style and areas of solid colour are what sucked me in, I thought I'd add some blocks of colour as a background for a modern 'arty' look!!

I stamped each image, trimmed part way around the shape and made the rest into a rectangle with a knife and ruler..... I then added colour with an alcohol marker. It would have been easier to make the background blocks with coloured card and then add the stamped and trimmed images on top but that's what happens when a card design evolves!! :)

Now it's fair to say that Flora & Fauna are definitely becoming a favourite brand of mine too and I made this card using the Thanks a Munch set which has the cutest caterpillar amongst the images..

I made a circular frame with the leaves and then masked a circular area on the card to add the background leaves and the caterpillar..... he looks like he's enjoying his leafy snack!!

This gives me a good excuse to show you this beautiful Privet Hawk Moth caterpillar we found last weekend whilst gardening, I used to take these in to school in a jam jar for the nature table when I was a child but haven't seen one in ages so it was nice to find him :)

Thanks a Munch for stopping by :)

Two for the Gardener

Hello hello :)

I have another couple of cards to share, this first is based on a notebook cover I made for a craft sale a few months ago.... I love the water-coloured square backgrounds for each image and it seemed natural to arrange them on a square card base...

These Altenew stamps are just lovely for a spot of loose watercolour and staying on the plant theme I have been playing with some new Flora & Fauna succulent stamps, another new favourite company me thinks and they can be found at Seven Hills Crafts here in the UK now 😉

I have used a mixture of paper-piecing, Copic colouring and plain ol' stamping to make this little collection and used the Octagon greenhouse for a Terrarium 😊

That's all from me... time for bed!!
Thanks for stopping by 😊
