Christmas Colour Challenge

Well we're now into November... how did that happen!!???
Christmas is just around the corner and we have the last challenge of 2017

Time for a colour challenge and naturally we'd like you to make a Christmas themed card or project using at least three colours from one of the palettes below :)

Now some of the more eagle-eyed readers will wonder where the blue is in the third set of colours!!
It seems my printer did not give me a true colour likeness and this is the result... well we can imagine it's a very blue grey ;)

I've used trees from Flora & Fauna's Holidays Watercolour set and decorated some with white gel pen doodles. You can just about make out the pale icy blue snow hill and the sprinkling of snow falling. It just felt right to use that sentiment from Scandinavian Prints Christmas by Neat & Tangled :)

All the challenge rules and prize details can be found here along with the link up gallery... we'd love you to play along with us in our last challenge of 2017!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Everyone say ahhhhh..... isn't he the cutest yeti ever? I turned the sketch through 180° so he could stand on his own snowscape complete with icy mountains and that sentiment was a good find from  another MFT stamp set :)

Come over to the Seven Hills blog here to find out all the challenge and prize details... we'd love to see you in the linkee gallery :)

Supplies used:

A Spotlight Challenge

We have a fun technique challenge this month over at Seven Hills Crafts...
We're asking you to spotlight an element of your design which can be done in a few ways so it'll be fun to see everyone's entries in the gallery :)

I've used colour to spotlight this little lady in the herd.... seriously that face just cracks me up :)

I added some subtle inking to indicate the sky and grass so the design wouldn't be too 'white'

So how would you use the Spotlight technique?? Come and show us and be in with
a chance of winning a giftcard to spend in store. All the details can be found
on the blog here.... see you in the gallery :)

Lemons or Coffee??

I know... strange title but you'll see why when you see my card. This one is for the August challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts, we have a colour challenge and I was inspired by the citrus colours and photograph in the first colour palette...

After water-colouring the lemons I didn't want to stamp the sentiment inside the fruit so I selectively inked and embossed some of the words then searched on Pinterest for an alternative ending.... oh there are some great choices that made me laugh but I went with this one...

Now that's more like it :)
I hope you can join us, all the usual details and gallery can be found here.

I'll Be Brief!

That's the name of the stamp set but yes, this is a short blog post too 😏
It's time for a new challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts blog and this month is a sketch..

This one had me pondering for a while until I came across the new set from Lil'inkers called I'll Be Brief, I rotated the sketch and those bars became washing lines 😉

It doesn't look a particularly sunny day to dry the washing though does it??!!

Does the sketch inspire you to play along too?... I hope so, we'd love to see you in the gallery :)
Hop over to the blog here for all the challenge details and link up gallery 😊

I've used red, white and blue so it fits with this weeks challenge over at Less is More too which is the colours of your countries flag so I'll pop it in over there 😄

Thanks for stopping by :)

Die Cutting Challenge

It's challenge time again over at Seven Hills Crafts and, I know I say this every month, but it really is a fun challenge this time.... Die Cut a Die Cut....

What a fun theme... can't wait to see what inventive ideas appear in the gallery!!
You can be really creative or keep it simple like I have for my inspiration project...

I needed to get these doodled flower dies into use so I chose to cut them into three pierced squares and emboss the fourth to frame the sentiment..... a nice simple layout :)

We'd love you to join us and, as usual, all the details can be found on the Seven Hills blog here along with the link up gallery.... hope to see you there ;)

Retro Colours

I cannot believe how fast these months are flying by.... May already!! This does mean a new challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts and I have a retro feel for my inspiration card this month using one of the colour palettes...

I already had the idea for this card and when I saw those colours in the middle photo I knew it would work!

I love the retro vase in the Kitschy Kitchen set so I used the matching die to make a mask and then did the same with a circle and one of the rounded squares from the triple peek-a-boo windows die. When they were in place I blended colour over them and then thoroughly enjoyed the moment of peeling them off to reveal the white spaces....

The rest is just stamping and making sure to off set the images with the white spaces a tiny bit..... I love the end result :)

I hope you can join us this month... click here to hop over and see the challenge details :)

A New Home Card

We're a couple of weeks into the month already but you still have time to join in the April challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts... this time we have a sketch for you and this is my take on it using some of the recent New Home dies from MFT...

Apologies for the harsh light in the photo, I was trying to capture the detail in the white on white background!! As you can see from the sketch below, I changed up the centre shape and added some brick work texture with a stencil, then used the fence in place of the diagonal stripes.

Those little house dienamics are just adorable to build up and are the perfect size as a keyring too.

Here's the sketch if you'd like to join us in the gallery, all the details can be found here :)

A Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

The new challenge this month at Seven Hills Crafts is a
TIC-TAC-TOE board ... they seem to be a favourite for challenges and
it's fun to see which line inspires your crafting project too :)

As you can see, I went with the diagonal line containing animals, big words and die cutting.
I went through my Paper Smooches stamps and found these cute critters to sit
alongside the Big sentiment.... love the whimsy style of the letters which
are a great size for cutting with patterned paper.

We'd love to see you play along with us... which line on the board inspires you?
All the details can be found on the blog here with details of the prize up for grabs
Hope to see you there :)

Sending Warm Wishes

Hi there :)

It's time for a new challenge over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog and we have
three colour palettes for you to choose from this month...

To be honest all three are gorgeous but I wanted to ink up the new Kitschy Kitchen
from MFT so I went for the teals and red in the third choice...

I hardly make round cards and it seemed the perfect shape to go with coffee for two... until it came to the sentiment!! I couldn't find one to fit the gap so I drew a second pencil line as a
guide and stamped my own using Mama Elephants Bella Letters :)

We would love you to play along to so please hop on over and
check out the challenge details here :0

"Inspired by Christmas" Challenge

Hi there :)

Well the start of November brings our last challenge for 2016 over at Seven Hills Crafts, and we are asking you to be inspired by a Christmas Movie, Song or Carol for your project...

My mind jumped straight to our favourite Christmas film to watch.... Elf.
I have been inspired quite literally as you can see...

Buddy's green elf coat is quite iconic especially when paired with the sentiment :) I started by cutting the belt and buckle using the Waffleflower Santa Add on dies, making the belt longer than the die actually cuts. I then cut the green card to match the belt width and glued two strips of card down the middle for the coat edging. I found a squiggle of confetti in an Avery Elle stamp set to make the gold detail down the front of the coat and the collar is made with white felt cut with a heart shape die.
I was so pleased to find the sentiment in Mama Elephants Alpine Caroler's stamp set :)

We hope you can join us for the last challenge of 2016... we can't wait to see what you choose and how it inspires you. All the challenge details and link up gallery can be found here

Christmas Greens

Hi there :)

I'm popping by to share another Christmas card... it's really not like me to be Christmas crafting this early... Lol! My card is for this months challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts....

Yep, we have three tone on tone palettes for you to choose from this month and as I'm a lover of most things green (not so keen on Brussel Sprouts!!) it was an easy choice for me.

Okay so they're more teal than green but for Christmas cards they work perfectly for Christmas greenery so I used a die from Wplus9's Under the Mistletoe dies to cut out quite a few branches from card I'd coloured myself using Evergreen Bough Distress ink.

To give the illusion of depth I also cut a branch in foam and temporarily adhered it to a block so I could stamp a few branches with Versamark ink....

Oh by the way, I stamped and embossed the sentiment first?... Take it from me, it's the best way round to do it *wink*

I layered the branches over and then added some splatters of white distress paint mixed with water and some enamel accents for the berries..

Ahhh lovely and wintery... not that I'm wishing this lovely autumn sunshine away :)

The gallery is going to look so pretty this month with your tone on tone creations... I hope you can join us. All the details can be found here.. a £15 voucher to the store is up for grabs each month so what ya waiting for!!?

Sketch Challenge at SHC

Hello there :)

It's time for a new monthly challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts and this month we have a sketch for you to play along with....

Now I quite like the look of the circles in this sketch, although they could be any shape, so I had a look through my stamps and decided on these plump little birds from Concord&9th...

I turned them into robins with a bit of loose water-colouring.... which is not as easy as you'd think it would be!! I added a sentiment from a Lil' Inkers set and Voilà!!.... another Christmas card made :)

How does the sketch inspire you? We'd love you to play along too :)

A Geometry Challenge

Hello again :)

It's challenge time again over at Seven Hills Crafts and this month we have a simple theme... Geometric

I love geometric patterns although they never seem to make it to my card making style which is probably why I had to rummage through my stamps to find the stamp shape I had in mind!

I found these two diamonds in a Sugar pea Designs stamp set and chose a masculine group of colours then set about stamping. I have a Misti Tool but it's actually easier to draw pencil guide lines and use an acrylic block to make the pattern. I finished off with a die-cut sentiment over some vellum and then a scattering of shimmery stars :)

All the details for the challenge and the linky gallery can be found here... hope you can play along.

A Fruity Colour Challenge

Hi there,

I'm just popping by late this evening to share my DT card for this months Seven Hills Crafts challenge.... we have a choice of three fruity colour palettes for you but your project does not need to have a fruit theme at all...

... having said that, I chose to use the gorgeous set called Beautiful You from Altenew which arrived recently and made a strawberry swag to go with the first colour set.

I was drawn by the sketchy style of the images in this set so I used a couple of stamps to make my row of hanging strawberry plants and used watercolour paints to loosely colour them in...

... it goes without saying that I had to add glossy accents to the berries... especially as I've just treated myself to a new bottle and fine tip applicator to go with it :)

We'd love you to join us this month, hop over to the blog here for all the details of how to play along and keep an eye out for more DT inspiration each week :)

Prehistoric!!

We have a new challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts... yes, we've started a new month and the theme this time is EMBOSSING. It can be dry or heat variety and it's many uses... the creative possibilities are huge, much like the dinosaur on my card.....

I've had a go at embossing a Echo Park stencil called Rocks... although in my mind I clearly thought it looked like the skin of a dinosaur!! I added the images from Prehistoric Fun onto the white frame and the sentiment looked good at a jaunty angle.... no planning involved, it landed there and I liked it *wink*

I've sponged some green ink through the stencil to add some detail and dimension to the raised surface... love that you can do that with a stencil :)

We would love to see your creative take on the challenge... you can find all the details and players  gallery if you click here :)

Hippo Birdie to You !

Hello there :)
This months challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts is a colour challenge... my oh my these months are rattling along!!
The palettes are based around the colour blue which we want to see as the predominant shade in your project...

I have a simple card this month using the middle set of colours... the grey and yellow just called for these little characters...

This one came together as I went along, no plan, and the blue card base looked a little too plain so I stamped MFT's Watercolour Stripes twice to give a tone on tone wavy chequerboard.... ahhh much better :) You can't see from the photo but I've dotted the musical notes with black enamel accents amd glossy accents on the balloon... that's quite a lot of embellishment for me!!

The gallery is already filling with fabulous cards, all the details and prize info can be found HERE along with the Linky tool so please come and join in too :)

Thanks for stopping by:)

March Sketch Challenge and a Special Birthday

Hi there,
I'm playing catch up to let you know about the new challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts for the month of March. We have a sketch this time around which has a lot of scope for interpretation...

I have to admit that Mr Mojo was absent when I made my card and I went for a fairly literal copy of the sketch...

I used the MFT Balloon Strings background on its side to make a wavy ocean and then cut slits along the lines to allow the critters to pop their heads through the water... in hindsight I'm wondering if I should have gone for the more traditional blue ocean and embossed the lines in white!! Hmm the jury's still out on that one!

If you'd like to join in with this months challenge just click here for more details and the linky tool.

**************************
Monday was my brothers birthday.. yep, he's a leap year baby and this year was the big 40 so I had to make him a reminder card with the appropriate numbers on it. I practised some no-line water-colouring with this little guy from Stamping Bella....

This is Nacho and on the packaging he's coloured brown but my brothers little dog is a black and white terrier x so I went for the caricature style image.... I thought that expression was perfect for his card too ;)

and here's the inside... just to make him feel better ;)
