Say it with Flowers

Well I'm gradually catching up now with all my cards to show you
and this collection are all about the florals...

This gorgeous frame is a Hero Arts/Pinkfresh collaboration and I couldn't wait to try
it embossed on dark card so I could use Prisma colour pencils to add some colour...

When I had finished this next card I had flower pot envy!! Love this die set from MFT,
all the pieces are well thought out and make such cute gardening tools, bench and flowers..

Flowers on the go!! Flora & Fauna have such whimsy images and this little van is
just one of them. For a background I thought I'd try some subtle pattern making with
a few smaller images... love the effect 😊

Saving my favourite til last and these silhouette stems from MFT are such a dream to stamp in
layered colours thanks to my MISTI ... I was especially pleased with the daisies!
The vase is actually a take out coffee cup die that's been given a contemporary look.

Well that's all for this post, not sure what the next collection will be,
think we are heading towards a miscellaneous assortment!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Happy Birds

Our garden has become a playground for young birds at the moment, being in the countryside, we have quite a variety from sparrows to the great spotted woodpeckers... we even had a family of fledgling swallows precariously balanced on some metal framework the other day!

The most colourful are the blue tits but I don't own any stamps of British birds
so I thought I'd adapt these Wplus9 birdies in a very stylised way....

I used a pale tone on tone ink on the Kraft coloured card and my
Prismacolour pencils to colour them.

The little fella on the end chirping away just had to be sending Birthday greetings...
perhaps he'd rather Tweet it!!  😄

For the Knitters

Here's a card I made for a friend who loves to knit, I love the cute balls of yarn in
the Sugar pea designs set and I paired them up with a loopy sentiment to make
it look like the sentiment is wool

I find repeating border stamps quite tricky to line up so I devised a method
for this knitting pattern. By stamping the image across my misti
grid paper I can use the dark image either side to align the card base
correctly each time I move it up the Misti

I used the Letter Message Board die from Sugar Pea Designs to make a fridge
magnetfor my friend too...... I think that fact is true for any craft! 😂

The Letter board is such a fun die 😃

Happy Birds

I'm getting a few cards ready for wedding season and I thought these birds
would look quite tweet for the occasion...

I've used a leafy branch and flower from the same Birds of a Feather die set to
to make a flowery filled frame. I've stacked four frames to add dimension and
to sandwich the leaves and flowers between them.

A rectangle of ink blending behind the frame and voila... a clean and simple congrats
card that could also be used for engagement wishes...

Christmas Roses

Hello
Hope you had a lovely Christmas :)
So, it's that strange limbo period between Christmas and New Year...
I'm sure I never really noticed it when I was a kid... too busy playing with new toys I suppose!

I thought I'd pop on here and share this card I made for my MiL who had a birthday at the start of the month, it's always quite a nice break from making Christmas cards. I went with these lovely Hellebore's in three different colours..

The white one has to be my favourite, on the card and in real life,
but the green varieties come a close second.
I used two of the fine frames from Altenew to group them onto...
I love this die set but my 'old' Big Shot struggles with intricate dies like this...
I've ordered one of the brand new Chrome Precision plates to hopefully
give her a hand and prolong her life 😊

So that's all for 2018, thank you so much for visiting me here and
leaving comments... I do read and really appreciate them.

I'd like to wish you all the best for a happy and healthy 2019

Winter Bear Hugs

I love this cuddly bear!!.... never thought of him as retro looking but this
card comes across like that!

Perhaps its the colours I used and the black trees in the background but
I'm quite pleased how this card turned out

Another card for my stash...
not everyone wants a jolly, happy or merry Christmas card

Holly Jolly

I'm still cranking out Christmas Cards and I wanted to use this die set from Wplus9.
This was my first card, having watercoloured some holly sprig die-cuts from Flora & Fauna,
I love the pop of bright green against the white woodgrain.

I used gold powder to heat emboss the Holly Jolly sentiment whilst still intact in the
sentiment bubble which meant I had the outer piece left over to make a second card....
this is my favourite of the two.

A Floral Trug

Here's a card I made for a dear friend and it was great fun breaking out both Fresh Cut floral Stamp sets from Wplus9 again. I remember when they first came on the scene... they were the first multi step stamps I had in my stash and now its fun to try them with new inks :)

My friend started her own flower farm this year and has had a busy first summer not to mention a battle with the hot dry weather, she has done so well. Her card had to be floral and I wanted to use this trug die from Joanna Sheen... what a colourful arrangement :)

Love and Hedgehugs

These hedgehogs are an older Lawn Fawn set but they're just the job for an anniversary card for my Brother and Sister-in-Law..... they seem to have a large number visit their garden which is not easy when you have a dog that views them as a play thing!!

The confetti background is subtle in a pale pink... another older set from Wplus9!!
I stamped the hedgies in shades of brown ink and used copics to colour them, I'm pleased how they turned out :)

Double the Warmth

It's always nice to send warm wishes but at this time of year in the northern hemisphere, its even more appropriate!! It's also a lovely alternative to a 'Happy' sentiment on a Birthday or Christmas card.

These little feathered friends are cuddled up for warmth on a cold snowy night..Brrrr. I did some simple masking to arrange them along the branch and coloured them with Copics. I even had a go at colouring the sky which was scary stuff as it started off looking a mess but gradually came round :)

I cut them out with a tag die and added black twine..... my top tip is to rub Multi Matte Medium onto the twine so it holds a nice shape bow ;) I then just added a couple of strips of card along with a sentiment under the tag :)

This next card was fun to make using the hats and mittens from a Wplus9 stamp set to create a border edge down the card front...

Simple masking again and I used the outline and solid images from the set which i think look so good when slightly off set :) I trimmed around the hats and gloves to give a fancy shaped edge which is more obvious with the contrasting black card strip behind.

I used a small star stamp to decorate some of the hats and gloves and added a sentiment made up from a couple of sets.

Well it's certainly hat and glove weather out there today, I'll have to dig mine out for the dog walk later..... sadly they're not as colourful as these.

Both cards have featured on the Seven Hills Crafts blog here and here

A Post at Last (part b)

Hello there again,

Okay so here are a few more recent projects to catch up on.... and they seem to be all animal related which is a pure coincidence!!

I Had to have these dies from Paper Smooches.... love that they look like the animal has taken a selfie :) Lol.  Lots of dies in the set so I had a play and ended up with this character.... I reckon he's a husky type breed with bright blue eyes like that ;)

Next up is this cute little doggy kennel I made using the Lawn Fawn Milk Carton. By adding a cardboard roof it not only makes it more of a kennel shape but holds the carton closed too. Of course I couldn't find anything doggy related to go inside for the photos but have since found some mini Scottie dog shaped shortbread biscuits in Sainsbury's that would have been perfect .. *sigh* ;)

A couple more photos but there are others on my Seven Hills blog post (link below)... oh and the doggies around the outside are from a Wplus9 stamp set by the way....

I can't help thinking that Snoopy should be lying up on that kennel roof!!

Finally, to bring us up to date is this card which just makes me smile...

Seriously, that bear's expression was made to go with a phrase like that!! I'm just glad pants aren't trousers here in the UK or I'd have to think again!! I also got round to trying out the technique of using a stencil as a guide to making the dotty backdrop, so subtle and I love it :)

Die Cutting Challenge

It's challenge time again over at Seven Hills Crafts and, I know I say this every month, but it really is a fun challenge this time.... Die Cut a Die Cut....

What a fun theme... can't wait to see what inventive ideas appear in the gallery!!
You can be really creative or keep it simple like I have for my inspiration project...

I needed to get these doodled flower dies into use so I chose to cut them into three pierced squares and emboss the fourth to frame the sentiment..... a nice simple layout :)

We'd love you to join us and, as usual, all the details can be found on the Seven Hills blog here along with the link up gallery.... hope to see you there ;)

Quick Notepad Gifts

Hi there,

Just playing catch up again with some DT projects...

This week, over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog, I shared these notepads which are
shop bought jotters that I've added a decorated cover too....

They're very simple to make and make something quite boring look rather pretty.... you can even add a piece of thin magnet to the backs so you can put them on the fridge.

They were great fun to make and colour... I shouldn't have a favourite but I
think it has to be the Kraft coloured one 😉
I have a few more details here on the SHC blog but really it's just a scored and folded strip of card.
They make handy little gifts when slipped inside a cellophane bag
with a brand new sharpened pencil 😊

I also missed sharing another card using the Woodland Basics dies from Wplus9...

I love the white on white (cream on cream in this case) but I felt those dies needed an
injection of brown into the design, love this combo.
The dies are layered 3 or 4 times to add dimension without having to
cut fiddly pieces of foam dimensionals.
More details about this card can be found over on the SHC blog here :)

Colourful Leaves

It's half term week so life is quite busy here!
I'm popping by with a couple of colourful Autumn cards.... I love all the
bright colours showing in the leaves this time of year,
great excuse to do some water colouring :)

I've used the Wplus9 Woodland Basics dies
again and die cut lots of leaves from a couple of water coloured panels...
I think it's easier to get a random mix and blend of colours doing it that way round :)

What better way to display them than in a wreath...
oh those colours look gorgeous
and maybe a little more vivid than you'd actually find!!

I didn't want to waste the leftover water coloured card panel so
I used a section in a frame and embellished it with extra leaves and an acorn..

There are more details about these cards
over on the Seven Hills Blog this week here if you're curious.

Seasonal Decoration

I'm jumping back to Christmas crafting this week over at Seven Hills Crafts and using the Wplus9  Woodland Basics dies to make a small hanging wreath from felt and material scraps...

I made the main part of the wreath with felt... a bit rusty with the blanket stitch but it soon came back to me after a quick search on You Tube!! The foliage is cut from scraps of material with an interfacing backing to them which were leftover from a previous project.

More details on how I made this  wreath can be found on the Seven Hills blog here.... I need to make another now, need a least a couple to add to the tree decorations this year :)

Christmas Greens

Hi there :)

I'm popping by to share another Christmas card... it's really not like me to be Christmas crafting this early... Lol! My card is for this months challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts....

Yep, we have three tone on tone palettes for you to choose from this month and as I'm a lover of most things green (not so keen on Brussel Sprouts!!) it was an easy choice for me.

Okay so they're more teal than green but for Christmas cards they work perfectly for Christmas greenery so I used a die from Wplus9's Under the Mistletoe dies to cut out quite a few branches from card I'd coloured myself using Evergreen Bough Distress ink.

To give the illusion of depth I also cut a branch in foam and temporarily adhered it to a block so I could stamp a few branches with Versamark ink....

Oh by the way, I stamped and embossed the sentiment first?... Take it from me, it's the best way round to do it *wink*

I layered the branches over and then added some splatters of white distress paint mixed with water and some enamel accents for the berries..

Ahhh lovely and wintery... not that I'm wishing this lovely autumn sunshine away :)

The gallery is going to look so pretty this month with your tone on tone creations... I hope you can join us. All the details can be found here.. a £15 voucher to the store is up for grabs each month so what ya waiting for!!?
