Winter Friends

We woke up to snow falling this morning and although it's not settling much and probably
wont hang around for long, I thought it was the perfect day to share this wintery friendship card..

I love the Go Girl dies, the choice of hairstyles and accessories is fun.
These three ladies are ready for chilly days with their coordinating winter warmers
which I've cut using felt and decorated with acrylic paint for extra interest and texture.

The stencil background gives a lovely subtle frame and its very thematic
being a geo snowflake design. I do like the simple style of the faces by just adding the lips,
they remind me of the dress up dolls I used to love back in the day.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Birthday Shout Out!

A break from Christmas cards today to share this card I made for a family birthday,
this Town Cryer is great for a guys card and fun to colour too..

I paired him up with the buildings from a Mama Elephant set and left them uncoloured
so he would take centre stage... with a booming voice I think he already has centre stage!

The Gift of Coffee

Here's a fun way to give a Giftcard to those coffee fanatics out there!!

This new die set from Waffleflower is brilliant and its great for mixing and matching
with any coffee themed stamps and dies for a multitude of styles

I went girly and used this lovely lady in her autumnal outfit from a MFT set.... not tried paper piecing for a while but its a great technique for adding interest to your images..

I decorated the background with a subtle tone on tone
floral pattern and added a sentiment

The tick box stamp in the coordinating set is a great extra detail to add
to the back. I used the same floral pattern for the inside piece and masked an
area to add a personal message...

Hooray, Yippee

Here's a bunch of happy kids... you can feel their excitement jumping off the card!!
I've used the new big alphabet dies from MFT to give them something to be happy about :)

I can't resist an alphabet die set... and this one is a good size.
I went with a retro colour palette and didn't fuss much with the colouring

Sound the Alarm!!

I was inspired to try a different card design using the Peek-a-Boo
pals car stamp...... it just needed a pop up scene to sit in...

I basically searched on You Tube for a guide to making these floating floor cards and found
them quite simple to do once you've worked out where you want to place the images.

My party-goer is a dinosaur from a coordinating set also from Avery Elle .
I gave him a city backdrop and an inked road to travel along...

Using acetate for the flashing light lines and balloon strings gives
an invisible way to add them.

I chose to make my floating scene a bit short of the base and then added a simple
sentiment with room to add a handwritten one too.

The outside of the card needed a wrap/belly band to help keep it closed so
I used a fun font to add the siren noise to a speech bubble for a simple decoration
to the band... I like the fun, striking colour combo too :)

Caution..... Big Birthday!

Now this the the style of card that I love to make and send
to people... it will make the recipient smile for sure 😊

That happy Policeman just gave me the idea for this design and I couldn't wait to make
my own hazard tape to wrap across the Big Birthday...

I kept the scene simple and just added a traffic cone, I freehand cut myself, and
a cloud line in white for subtle detail on the top half of the card.

Tumble, Flip and Celebrate

I hope you're feeling in an energetic mood because I've got a couple of cards that
 feature tumbling, flipping and stretching!!!!

I just love these illustrations from Kamo for Waffleflower... I managed to fit five of the
girls on one card and used simple colour blocking to highlight them

I found a suitable stamp in another Waffleflower set to make a ribbon for this girl to twirl
whilst jumping through the air

There are three lads in the set too so they had to have their own card....
perfect for any young budding male gymnast

I went with circle backgrounds this time and found a sentiment from other stamps and dies.
I love the expression on the face of the boy balancing on one arm 😄

Not Feline Well?

I realised the other day that I haven't used my Inktense pencils for a
while so I had to rectify that. I dug out an unloved stamp set to match the unloved
pencils and stamped out this cute scene.....

I started with a big ginger cat and a dark purple chair then grabbed my colour
wheel to choose a suitable colour for the wall which is painted with regular watercolours.

Love the big scripty sentiment.... luckily it fitted in the space 'purr'fectly 😉
I coloured the edges of the card base with Distress Oxide ink then added water with a
background stamp...... you're left with a fun texture when you soak
up the moisture with a piece of kitchen towel.

Pastel Baubles

I'm a 'traditional Christmas' colour girl at heart, loving my greens and reds but I have to say that muted pastels are up there too in a close second. I was inspired by the bird in
this Flora & Fauna set to try and make some masked tree baubles in
dusty pink, blue and beige... love how they turned out.

I think these may be my cards this year, I love the softness of the colours and they
are a nice design to make in batches too.

I sponged soft grey through a mask and then added the foliage and bird through the mask too.
The little bow and hoop are made using dies and they add a little bit of
dimension to an otherwise one layer design :)

Time to Twirl

I'm back with another Interactive Card inspired by the awesome Jennifer McGuire... this one is a peek-a-boo card and you can find her You Tube tutorial here

I thought the Tu-Tu Cute set from Waffleflower would work well... the little ballerina changes poses

I even got 'techy' brave and made a short silent video to show the card in action...

I love the simple mechanism for this card....
now thinking which other sets would work 🤔

Bespoke Sneakers

August was a busy month for birthdays!!
This was a fun one to make as I just knew the young recipient would
love a pair of sneakers like these :)

I used a Hero Arts background stamp with black ink to make the scripty material for the boots.
I cut the shoes and all the trimmings and then, when they were all assembled, I laced them up with a rainbow cord... Love it :)

I actually think I'd quite like a pair of these too.... and how funky does that
radiating dots background look heat embossed in white!

Hanging Pot Plant

Hanging plants seems to be all the fashion again at the moment.... I don't mean outside, they've always been popular but indoor plants in macrame hangers have come back with the retro vibe.
I've used a few stamp sets to make my own suspended pot plant...

I had to carry out stamp surgery to a border stamp so I could have one string of dots to make the pot holder... oh well I can always put them back together again.

Ocean Scenes

I challenged myself for these two cards!!
I used the shadow box ocean add-on dies from Lawn Fawn but didn't want to make shadow boxes.... they're quite a versatile set of dies on their own...

The scalloped frame is such a useful die which cuts a lovely aperture in your card front and I've tucked the aquatic leaves and plants behind it. Jaws is swooshing into the scene and that shoal of fish are making their quick escape in the background!!

When it comes to the wave die cuts, you can cut the tabs off to use them flat, but instead I left them on and curved them on the card front for some dimension. I had to shorten one of the waves so they layered together but this is quite easy to do...

I added the stripes to the card base using a stencil and a good dose of glitter pen to the waves for a shimmery sea. That little whale is just so cute and the coral makes the perfect water squirt from his blowhole :)

Brighter Days

As you've probably gathered from some of my projects I'm all into nostalgia and retro designs so as soon as I saw the Biking Girls stamp set from Waffleflower I was immediately transported back to old book illustrations from the era of Enid Blyton and the likes....

I chose an 'old print' classic colour combo of black, grey and red with a touch of dirty blue. I felt this young girl needed a horizon and scenery to aide her bike ride and found an unlikely partner in Avery Elle's Shine Bright stamp set. The tree is a lovely simple design from a MFT stamp set which is ironically called Modern Trees but I thought it worked well in the scene. The sentiment is also from the Shine Bright stamp set but really these bikes could be for any occasion.

Special Delivery

Colourful presents in a hessian sack.... that's an image that makes you think of Christmas!!

That's why I love this stamp from Waffleflower and it was just asking for a real twine drawstring to be added for a pop of colour and dimension..

The linen texture is added using a MFT background stamp and I shaded the folds with markers for a 3D effect. To add presents I cut simple shapes from various papers and added bows and ribbons.

The sack has a space for a sentiment which is all that this card needed I reckon...... sometimes you don't need to add any more words!!
