For the Knitters

Here's a card I made for a friend who loves to knit, I love the cute balls of yarn in
the Sugar pea designs set and I paired them up with a loopy sentiment to make
it look like the sentiment is wool

I find repeating border stamps quite tricky to line up so I devised a method
for this knitting pattern. By stamping the image across my misti
grid paper I can use the dark image either side to align the card base
correctly each time I move it up the Misti

I used the Letter Message Board die from Sugar Pea Designs to make a fridge
magnetfor my friend too...... I think that fact is true for any craft! 😂

The Letter board is such a fun die 😃

Hooray for Summer

Loving the summer release from Avery Elle... in particular this Sea Scene die as its a
perfect grounding for images on a clean and simple card...... perfect for these
two having fun on their floaties

I cut two of the sea scenes, one in blue and one in white so I could layer the white waves behind the blue so they stand out more.... that also meant I could tuck the floaties into the waves too.

Well they look like they're enjoying some fun in the sun!

Building Patterns

We had an one-stop-blog-hop post over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog and these are my two cards using the new Pattern Builder stamp set from Reverse Confetti..

This card uses the set as intended but you have quite a few options for pattern building with lots of shapes and layers. I went for a tiled look as the shapes reminded me of tile or quilt patterns. Using the Misti helped a lot with this process then I trimmed them out and arranged them at an angle on the card base.

Having played about with the shapes I could see the petals and centre to a Cone flower style of plant so I tried stamping them out in shades of yellows, oranges and purples...

The single oval shape made a good leaf and I drew in the stems with a green distress marker.
I think they make quite good stylised flower heads :)

Brain Freeze

I tried my hand at making my own background pattern for this card, love the pastel stripes which I created by water colouring with distress inks to match the colours on the ice cream :)

I also water-coloured the cone and gave it a waffle effect and I had to make it a raspberry ripple flavour... not that it's my favourite but because I fancied the challenge of trying to paint it!!

Monkeying Around

Let the monkey business begin.... what a fun phrase for a greetings card and I knew just the troop of monkeys that would fit the sentiment :)

These little guys are just so cute and are up to all sorts of antics, I decided to stamp them on Kraft card and colour with Polychromes and I did the same with the vine leaves from the swinging borders stamp set too. I cut the leaves out and used green hemp twine as vines to attach the leaves too..

They certainly look like they're having fun :)

A Tropical Frame

I was obviously dreaming of warm weather subconsciously when I made this card and it seems to have charmed the sun out this past week!!! I decided to ink up these whimsical leaves and florals to make a frame using lots of masking and fussy cutting!!

I quite enjoy both fussy cutting and masking... the toucan was a bit more tricky and the edges a little more rough than I'd have liked but hey ho.

Rain to Rainbow

Okay it's time to catch up on DT projects from the last few weeks!!
Like many, we've just finished a rather wet Easter break but unlike this card, the rainbow never appeared!!

It's a tri-fold card which gives you a peek through to the layer underneath.

The sunshine is from Reverse Confetti.... I think it works well with these dies :)

This set is just so wonky and whimsy, even down to the font for the sentiments.. Love it :)

Well the warm sunny weather finally arrived today... right on cue for the schools going back!!

This Little Piggy

Hi there :)

I'm still playing catch up sharing my DT projects and these two cards use two different techniques with the same stamp set :)  I've already said how much I love the Dawn Machell stamps from Reverse Confetti so I had to get the newest piggy set.... this sentiment is just as cute as the piggy itself...

I wanted to use the no-line colouring technique using distress inks as watercolours.... love how it turned out :) Rather than leave the card base blank I used a bunting die from Avery Elle to make a tone on tone effect pattern :)

The second card is another favourite technique.... paper piecing :)

It's some fiddly cutting, but I do like the fabric effect if you use patterned paper and it totally suits the style of images too :)

I used a few extra stamps from Weather it Together to add a sun, cloud and a muddy puddle... just what a piggy likes :)

Hip Hip Hooray!!

How are these for a couple of party animals!!?? I just love these stamps by Dawn Machell from Reverse Confetti, they have an innocence to them like a child's drawing and I had this card idea in my head as soon as I saw the latest set, Later Alligator....

I just stamped and water-coloured the images then used the dies to cut them out to make my party group....  a lion from Leaping Lions was all ready to join them too but .... well you know what they say about three being a crowd!! I'm sure he'll join the fun later ;)

I found a great sentiment set to go with these party-goers too..... Strictly Sentiments from Wplus9 has fun phrases and brushstroke lettering too to go with the organic style :)

Leaping Lions!!

I'm popping by to share this CAS card made with Reverse Confetti's Leaping Lions stamp set....how cute is this little guy??

I just knew I had to paper piece this little lion.... he has a 'homemade toy' feel to him so I scrabbled around in my PP scraps for material inspired patterns and textures and kept the colours muted because that seemed to wotrk best :)

This card is actually for the new challenge over at Make the Day Special Stamp Store. This month we have a sketch challenge and you can find more details and inspiration from the DT here :)
