ColourQ Campervans

Hi There :0)
I'm a bit behind sharing some of my MtDS blog projects this summer and the ColourQ palette jogged my memory of a recent one layer card I made using the camper vans from Avery Elle... the colours are a brilliant match so I just hope Arielle and the girls wont mind me entering it despite it's apperarance on the store blog :0)

To jazz these little vans up I made a reverse mask to add some personalised decoration using the motifs in the set....

Don't they look cool with the graphics overlapping the windows too..... I would love one like this :0)

Presents and Balloons

Phew... I'm quite glad for a Monday without too much heat because it's been a hectic weekend!! The house is quiet and empty and I'm nursing a bit of a headache which makes a change from hayfever at the moment!!

I have a two cards for a couple of colour challenges out there in Blogland as well as CASology's 100th challenge... well done ladies on the centenary :0)

I've used a 'new to me' set by Neat & Tangled... I love the 'hand-drawn' images and sentiments which remind me of illustrations in old childrens books so I tried to capture that style with the colours at Colour Me... this week. The cream paper is actually a blank page from an old paperback to give it more authenticity!!

This card uses the balloons from the same stamp set and some masking... love the colours at ColourQ this week and they worked well for balloons so I thought I'd make it a celebration card for CASology too :0)

Right I'm off to chase this headache away before it takes hold for the day.... thanks for stopping by :0)

A Love Explosion!!

Hey, did you know it's Valentines Day coming up???? I'm guessing so unless you've been under a stone for the last few weeks...Lol  :0)
Well my card over at Make the Day Special has me getting in the Valentine theme this week using a new Lawn Fawn set in store....

I'm loving the Science of Love stamp set because those geeky birds are just the cutest but the little test tubes had the first inking along with the sentiment which looks so cool in two colours :0) Love how the firework explosions from Happy 4th make a great backdrop for those shooting hearts!!

NEWS FLASH : I've managed to marry up three challenges for this card... YAY!!....

...and I've managed to get all three graphics in a line in this blog post... not sure which one I'm more ecstatic about... Lol :0)

Continuing the Love theme... I thought I'd share this card which I had published in Craft Stamper Magazine last month... same idea but using Paper Smooches stamps and dies instead

All this love and excitment... it's too much for a Monday morning!! I need to go and immerse myself in housework and calm down :0)

Thanks for visiting

WCMD Blog Hop (and prize) at Make the Day Special!!

Everyday should be World Card-Making Day..yes?? although today is very much going to be 'Find the Craft-Desk Day' after the few projects I've been making yesterday :0)
                                                       Tara Cardwell's photo.

Some of the DT girlies have a mini blog hop going on over at Make the Day Special, a  very apt name for today, and this is my card which has been inspired by the bright colour palette over at ColourQ this week...

I've used the Wplus9 Milk & Cookies set to add a splash of colour with those cute stripey straws and how cool does that sentiment look embossed in white on black card... I was tempted to turn it into a chalkboard!! The twine.... well I have stacks of the stuff and I hardly use it so I hope you appreciate this rare sighting and my nod to Julie Ebersole's love of knotting the twine ends :0)...pssst, twine is also handy at covering up dusty fingerprints on black cardstock *wink*

There is a list of us DT girlies that are sharing our creativity today over at the Make the Day Special Blog, we'd love you to hop around and see our cards and link up your own card too.... I hear there is a prize up for grabs :0)
Now you're off to Kate's blog or head back here to start from the top.

Happy WCMD and thanks for visiting :0)

Party Fireworks

I'm just popping by with my DT card for Make the Day Special because it's for a couple of challenges and they close tomorrow... I think :0)

CASology have the cue word FIREWORKS and the colour palette at ColourQ seemed to fit that theme very well.....

I'm sort of halfway happy with this card...... I should have trimmed the white panel down more so as to show more of the blue base card but hey-ho. I've tried a different technique for this card by cutting the letters from the base panel and stacking extra die-cut letters underneath them to raise them up..... by using a contrasting colour I think they really catch the eye whilst blending in at the same time..... if that's possible :0)

I wasn't sure whether to add glitter or not as my Stickles weren't a good match so I plumped for bling instead, I really love these Lawn Fawn fireworks.... just the job for this challenge :0)

It's been the first day of a potential 10 day heatwave here in the south-east and I'm wilting already :0( The grass is already crunchy and the flower beds have turned to sand!! On the other hand the strawberry bed is in full production with this wall to wall sunshine and warmth..... guess you can't have it both ways!!!

Caring Wishes

Helloooo..... I'm just literally popping by with a card which owes it's outcome to the three challenges it's for!! Never thought of trying to make a card that way before and I suppose in some cases it just wouldn't work but this time round I think it did.....

I've used the Cue word 'Care' at CASology this week, the palette from ColourQ and, for a second time, this weeks sketch at Less is More... and yes, the proportions are better this time round :0)
I'm also chuffed to have used a piece of patterned paper (albeit the tiniest dent in a mountain of stash) and an older Woodware stamp set... score two!!

Here are the challenge graphics..

Okay so it's time to catch up with other jobs now... apart from a dog walk, I've spent most of the day in the craftroom which is a sacrilege on such a beautiful day!!

Thanks for your visit :0)

Another Monster card!!

Yep, another monster... although it's more of a dinosaur really :0)
I couldn't resist this stamp set called 'Dino-mite' from Janes Doodles because the dinosaurs
have such cute faces and rounded bodies :0) I had this card idea in my head as
soon as I saw them and finally with the help of the fab
ColourQ palette, I have bought the design to life...

It also follows the sketch#134 at the Paper Players this week too... a few hours
left before closing time there!!

This is actually my brothers birthday card.
He is a leap year baby and, like every three out of four years, he has hijacked the
1st March as his birthday and I am safe to show you this now....although I know he doesn't
look on my blog :0) I thought he'd appreciate the comic style cartoon scene... we both
grew up watching the sort of cartoons this could be a scene from!!

I cut a circle mask to ink the sky using Distress inks and then used the
dienamics cityscape in three shades of blue card for depth. I love using the Distress inks on
diecut shapes....they just bring them to life :0)
I have a homemade version of ink blending tools to show you too. I followed
a tutorial on you tube and I'm quite happy with the result......so much
cheaper than buying the ranger tools. I just need to
get some photos taken and upload them.
I'll include them in another blog post next week :0)

Right that's all from me, it's been quite a busy week here on the blog
thanks for stopping by :0)

Monster Truck!!

Hello there :0)

The ColourQ#177 palette this week are my kind of colours...... quite bold and great for masculine cards.
I'm trying to use some of my older, forgotten dies and after flicking through my Quickutz dies I found this monster truck and an idea was born.....

I've used Tumbled Glass as the blue in the sky but it's very hard to photograph without bleaching it out.... it's much more obvious IRL!!!
The fonts are a couple of Sizzix alphabets, I thought the different heights would give the rocky road effect :0)
The stripe on the base card is a happy accident too, having tried to re-stamp a patchy image and not quite lining it up again properly, but I thought it looked quite in keeping with the truck/big tyres theme :0)

I'm also linking this card upto Addicted to CAS 'Masculine' challenge..... and lets face it guys cards are a challenge to make!!!

This card reminds me when we all had a go in a Land Rover on an Off-Road course at a Country Show quite a few years ago now. We were passengers with an experienced driver and it was very 'exhilarating' seeing/feeling the car traversing all sorts of gradients at various angles, but James laughed the whole way round the course, he found being thrown about most amusing. Needless to say wanted to stay on for a second go!!..... as I remember it was all I could do to get my feet on flat ground and let my head catch up with them!!!

Thanks for stopping by :0)

Hearts and flowers

Morning all :0)

Talk about sporadic blogging!! I'd love a few more hours in the day to get everything done but I somehow think it would still not be enough!!!

Lets start with Less is More this week which has a fabulous CAS sketch to work with drawn up by Jen.... soooo many possibilities but I decided to use the ColourQ palette this week which is yummy.... seriously those colours look edible to me!!!

Anyhow, as you can see I went with Spring blossom instead of food and I have to tell you about the texture on the cream panel which I embossed with a piece of hessian, or burlap if you prefer. I saw the idea on Pinterest and had to give it a go with some trial and error making a sandwich to go through the bigshot..... I think it was Multi-purpose platform (no Tabs), Acrylic plate, rubber embossing mat, hessian, card, shim (I used a piece of chipboard) and then Acrylic plate. Have a go, it gives you a texture a bit like Aida fabric :0)

This is my DT card from Saturday but I haven't had chance to blog it yet and it just so happens to fit in the Addicted to CAS challenge which is 'Heart'..

I wanted to try the "no-lines" style of colouring so I used the button from a Lawn Fawn set and stamped them in Memento Ladybug before shading with Red and white Prisma Pencils..... I love how 3D they look on a One Layer card!!! .... fooled hubby :0)

So that's all from me today, I need to go and tidy up my craft-desk...or should I say find it!!!

Inspired Patterns

Morning Everyone

It's a Saturday morning and my turn to share a card over at Make the Day Special blog and this week I decided to use a 'new to me' stamp set called Spunky Nature from My Cute Stamp, Emily stocks so many different stamp companies I thought I'd try something different from the shop..

The bold solid designs and the paired leaf pattern immediately made me think of the gorgeous repetitive patterns by Orla Kiely so this is my nod to her using the colours at ColourQ this week.

The leaves are stamped straight onto the vanilla card and the flowers have been stamped and cut out twice in Burgundy and Spice so they could be assembled to make then look two tone, I thought the Paper Smooches sentiment was the perfect whimsy font to match the style of card too :0)

Next week I will be starting my Girl Friday duties over at CASual Fridays...eek, so exciting :0).. so this week I'm playing along in the players gallery for the last time, why don't you pop over and join in too.

I know us Brits complain about the weather so much but I really have had enough of the rain now!!
James still wants the washing machine in operation everyday without a thought to how I'm going to dry it all so consequently my house looks like the proverbial  'Wishy Washy's'  laundry because we have no tumble dryer either!! I'm not sure Wishy Washy would have a mountainous ironing pile though.... tut tut...can't blame the weather for that though *wink*

Thanks for looking in today :0)

Doodling Trees

Morning all,

I've finally got my head around this weeks challenge at Less is More.... a one layer card that must include doodling by your own fair hands... I think the gasp was heard all around the country on Saturday morning!!!

I don't seem to have any stamps that I could doodle alongside.... well not that I could enhance with doodling then! So I had a nose about on Pinterest and soon came by the idea of using solid shapes as my base and the only solid rubber stamps I have are a set of Hero Arts dots......

I took my colour inspiration from this weeks palette at ColourQ because I thought it would suit the trees perfectly :0)
I started by randomly stamping the different dots on the card base in Adirondack Red Pepper and Butterscotch and Basic Grey ink, then doodled the patterns, trunks and grass to make a simple scene.
The sentiment is by Hero Arts too.... good planning actually as I need a thank you card :0)

I promised to show you the before and after shot of Rolo after his visit to the the groomers on Tuesday ... well here you go, they're not the best because they are taken on my phone in fact I've given them a vintage feel to mask that fact :0)

Hope you agree he looks rather smart sporting his new haircut and what's more, the amount of hair he sheds has drastically reduced and hopefully so will the need to vacuum the house!!!

Thanks for stopping by today :0)

Seed Head Silhouette

Good Morning everyone.... I'm a happy bunny this morning because I had some productive crafty time yesterday evening.... well, into the early hours of this morning too!! so I have a card to share with you for Less is More and ColourQ.

Last time I played with ColourQ I said how addictive Arielle's challenges are then promptly missed two! so I thought I need to tackle these colours because they didn't jump at me to start with.
Less is More this week is to make a card that combines at least three past challenges and this fits into
Wk#2  Flower or Tree
Wk#42   Silhouette
Wk#24  Circles
it would also fit Off the Edge, Bit of Bling, Off Centre.....oh and Anything Goes! don't think that counts though somehow :0)
The die I used is called Chloe and is from Memory Box..... just couldn't resist it when I saw it :0)

I've been out in the garden this morning trying to convince one of the neighbours chickens that it really would be better for it to return to the other side of the fence back with its friends before our Lakeland Terror sees it!!! They are not the brightest of animals are they!... after carefully herding it towards a possible escape route it decides to turn and run back past me clucking furiously!!!
By now the mutt has gone to the French doors and seen, what he thinks is, mum trying to do a job he could do much better but with different consequences for the chicken and is getting rather excited and vocal about it!!
Left to its own devices in the safety of the fenced allotment it finally managed to get back over to its friends without any scratching in the vegetable beds and Rolo missed out on a playmate!!!....hope this is not the start of a regular visit, it has also confirmed my suspicions that Rolo would love us to keep chickens in the garden but more for a sport than egg production!!

Thanks for visiting today and hope you remembered to turn the clocks forward last night if you live in the UK!

ColourQ#126

Hi Folks,
I need a card this week for my nephews birthday so I looked to ColourQ again for inspiration because Arielle's colour palettes are just so addictive!!
The combination of colours actually shouts springtime too me... in particular daffodils, so I had a hard time over-looking that to come up with masculine card, not that daffodils couldn't appear on a guys card..... enter stage right, my green fingered hubby as an example :0)

I've used my new Tim Holtz 'Inside Out' alphabet die for 'BIRTHDAY', love that you can use the inside letter with or without the outline or make it two tone as I've done here :0)
The white strip is embossed with the PTI wood-grain Impression Plate but its not showing well on the photo and the striped panel is made with lots of card offcuts stuck onto a card strip, trimmed and shaped with a corner chomper. Not sure about the swiped edges of the card.... seemed a good idea at the time to go around the edges with a white inkpad but not so sure I like it now!!

Typically its pouring with rain here today just as James has a friend coming to play this afternoon, he really wanted to get his Go-Kart out and charge round the garden on it, so it'll have to be inside games instead!
Hannah is on her second day of her new part-time job at our local garden centre, she was full of all that she'd been doing on her first day yesterday but I can tell that the best bit of the day was driving herself there and back again in Dads car..... yep, I know, we'll see less and less of that little car at weekends now!!!

Thanks for popping by today and hope your having a great weekend :0)

A Big Birthday!

Hi Everyone...... I know it's the warmest February day for five years here in the UK and I'm in crafting!!! ....Rolo is not impressed!
The reason being , it's my Uncles 65th birthday this weekend and I needed to make a card to send so I looked to blogland for some inspiration.

Well the colours at ColourQ are just gorgeous and could easily be used on a feminine card but I decided they would make a great masculine card in this instance, The Paper Players are asking for Clean and Simple masculine cards this week and I couldn't resist another chance to play again with the die-cuts challenge at Less is More , so that was enough inspiration to make this card....

The 'argyle' pattern is made using my PTI stamp set and the numbers are cut using dienamics dies, the sentiment and 'woodgrain' effect on the numbers are made using the stamp set that goes with the dies.
I made the label tag from an oval die-cut and then knotted 'Oyster' bakers twine onto the metal triangular fastener.

Here are the challenge details

After waking up and creeping round with a dizzy head this morning I was thrilled to see that my splash of pink card won 'Cup of the Week' at the Play Date Cafe... whoo hoo :0)  It was such a last minute make on Tuesday but I'm so glad I found the time to join in.

Right, time to take the terror out for a walk in this lovely warm sunshine.
Thanks for visiting me today and hope your enjoying this summery weather if you're in the UK :0)
