A Pink Princess

Hi crafty friends,

At the beginning of July, Hannah (my daughter) joined the design team at 'The Paper Variety'challenge blog and I thought I would play along this week as they have a tic tac toe board to work from .... I hope family members can play along too?
I also combined this with the CASual fridays challenge which is to make very CAS design on a 4 x 9 card, and how about this  .... this weeks sponsor is Lawn Fawn , one of my fave companies although I decided to not use LF stamps on my card :)

This is so not like me to make a girly card, but I've had this idea for a while in my head since I picked the Studio G crown stamp up for a pound at Hobbycraft :)
I'd also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Mr Tim Holtz for having the genius idea to drill a row of holes on a gridded acrylic ruler, it makes hand-stitching straight lines so much easier :)

I've added beads and gems to the stitched background and the crown for a little sparkle and dimension, here's a close up ...

Here's the Tic Tac Toe board over at The Paper Variety, I've used PINK, STITCHING and CARD ( obviously!) the challenge is open until Tuesday ...go check it out :)

Yesterday, in the glorious sunshine, we put our tent up on a trial run for a camping weekend we have planned and also to check the mice in the loft haven't used it as a comfy nest over the winter ...I'm pleased to say they haven't :)
I'm glad we took it down again last evening tho as it looks like a scorcher today, not the weather to be in a tent in !!!

Please check back tomorrow as I have my first card to show you as a design team member at St Lukes Charity Card Challenge, until then, thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of the weekend X

Go Westie

I find a simple sketch is sometimes all you need to get you routing about in old stash for a stamp set you haven't used in a while .....

.... and the 'Lucy Loves Lines' sketch over at Lily pad cards did just that :)

I just love this stamp from Little Claire Designs and it actually stamps as a 9 square grid so I've cut out 5 images, popped up the little westies for dimension then added a piece of faux red leather collar instead of a ribbon tab, as per the sketch .
I'm quite pleased with the linen card base which I thought was too flimsy to do the job but with it being a small narrow card base  (A5 folded length-ways) it stands very well :)

That's all from me today .... I've been busy tidying the blog up and finally learnt how to add extra pages, now I can feel a headache coming on so I've probably been looking at the screen too long :(

Don't forget to check out the "Less is More" blog in the morning , it's a lucky dip week being the 5th Saturday of the month :)

Thanks for visiting  X

A Stormy Sketch and a Blog Award

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I decided to collate a few challenge sketches, colour combos and trigger pictures onto a word document and print them out, because I can then pin them up in the craft room as I always seem to forget about some challenges until they close !
As a result I was busy crafting last night and I have a card to share with you,  it's following the Clean and Simple Sketch.... a challenge I haven't played along with for ages !

This would have been great for the Lawnscaping challenge 'Stamp a Scene' but I missed that deadline yesterday, see what I mean?
I used my two newest Lawn Fawn sets called 'Partly Cloudy' and 'Critters in the Burbs' ...... aren't they cute little characters, I just love how the brolly handle curls round the cats tail :)

I received this Blog award a few weeks back and thought it was about time to pass it on
Thank you Suzarte for handing me the award, please hop over to her blog here and you will see Suze has a 'Blogging is for Sharing' giveaway running for the next 6 months in which you could win $100 of PTI vouchers

The conditions of this award are....

1) Create a post on your blog and post the award.
2) Link back to the person who gave you the award and say if you accept.
3) Choose 3-5 of your favorite blogs to tag, link these in your post too and tell the lucky people they have won the award.

As the aim of this award is to bring unknown good blogs to light, please don't tag somebody with 3000
followers

.... so I'd like to pass this award to
and
Sarah - Little Snippets

I always find this part hard, choosing people to pass the award too as I follow lots of wonderful blogs but with a few more awards to blog at some point, I'm sure I will share them with you :)

If your still with me at this point, I'll say goodbye and thanks for looking X

A Paper Smooches Christmas Card

Hi Everyone,

Well the time has come for my last Guest Design post for Paper Smooches and I've had a fab time working with Kim, she's so welcoming and an immensely talented artist as well:)

As I said on Monday, I think this has to be my personal favourite of this months PS cards, although I didn't plan it that way .... on this Christmas card Santa has a new helper, and he's in disguise, let's see who it is ....

.... do you think he'll spot that a daxie has infiltrated the reindeer herd?? with his tie on antlers (see the little bow under his chin) which are pieces of seaweed from 'Surf n Turf' and a red nose which is a cherry from 'Sugar Rush'  !

Santa has two sacks of toys by his side which are actually the wing from the pelican in 'Surf n Turf' and if you look inside the card ...

... you'll see Santa has obviously spotted the imposter and left him a bone in his stocking instead of a carrot :)

Now onto the Paper Smooch Stamp giveaway and the winners are

For the Spiffy Scooters Set
The random number generator drew ......... Tracy.

For the Swanky Snowdudes
The random number generator drew ....... Sue.

And finally, for the Word Up set
The random number generator drew ...... Karen Aicken.

Well done ladies, if you could please leave me a comment with your email address, I can contact you and have your stamps on their way. I moderate all of my comments, so I won't publish the comment with your email address in.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting on my Paper Smooches cards, I hope you've enjoyed them as much as I have making them.
Bye for now X

CASual Rub-ons

Well a challenge is, more often than not, exactly that and this is what I found with this weeks Casual Fridays which is to use Rub-ons or Stickers on your cards. I don't own many rub-ons and those I do are as old as the dinosaurs (well nearly) and are a little perished to say the least and don't  'RUB  ON' ... Grrrrrr

So finally, after many trials and lots of errors, I arrived at this card ...

The swirls are Making Memories rub-ons and I've embellished them with liquid pearls and pink gemstones, the flower is also a MM rub on which has been cut out on pink card, shaded with coloursoft pencils and stickles added to the stamens then raised up on foam squares.

Sorry about the picture , I can assure you we don't live in a crooked house ..... yet !!!

It's growing on me, probably because it's a 'colour splash' colour scheme, which is one of my faves.  I'm entering it into The Play Date Cafe and St Lukes Charity Card Challenge too as they have colour splash challenges running at the moment :)

Thank you so much for visiting , I love to read your comments X

Buttons and Ribbons @ Less Is More

Morning Everyone ,

Things are back to normal now which means I could get into my craft room yesterday evening and make this weeks entry for Less is More which is a recipe this week and we have to use

BUTTON OR RIBBON
(or plurals thereof)

I went straight to my 'Everyday Button Bits' set from PTI and chose the topiary tree ...

I've used two colours of chalk ink on the pot to give a more 3D effect and found three different sized buttons for the topiary, which wasn't easy even though I have lots of buttons !!
The embossed panel on the base card is a PTI 'text' Impression plate which I've edged with narrow red ribbon and raised up on foam tape , because I didn't have enough ribbon to make a small bow I used three black pearls to embellish instead and compliment the black sentiment :)

I was also busy last night making my last Paper Smooches card for Wednesdays GD post and I think it has to be my favourite of the lot and I will  be announcing the winners for the three giveaway stamp sets on Wednesday too :)

My Sister in Law loved the jute bag filled with goodies yesterday and the weather was kind to us for the family BBQ party. Hannah made a gorgeous Birthday cake for her too and I'm sure she will put more pictures on her blog today but here is a peek at the decoration on top....

...... so sweet

Thanks for stopping by today .... back soon X

Busy making gifts

Hi Everyone ,

Sorry to have not been around , Ive been busy being the perfect hostess for my Mother in Law and cramming in some last minute gift crafting . I'm not overly good at getting prepared early so Thursday eve saw me rushing to wrap some boxes of chocs for James' class staff and decorate them ....

I used brown parcel paper to wrap the boxes and then decorated a sleeve to go round them ... just sweet and simple I think and they appreciated the gifts too  :)

I've also been altering a jute shopping bag as a gift bag for my Sister-in-law as we are going to her birthday get-together tomorrow. She and her husband are in the process of emigrating to New Zealand for a couple of years so I decided to buy some luxury edible pressies instead of another thing to add to the baggage of moving and this is the bag I decorated to put them in ....

Having lived and worked in Canada for a good part of her life I had to put a Polar Bear or a Moose on the bag so I went with a more colourful scene other than white!!!
I've used scraps of material to make up the picture that have been sewn with my machine and then stuck onto the bag with book binding glue . Everything apart from the moose and the grass is hand cut out of material scraps which have been backed with Vlieseline to stop it fraying . The moose is cut from a pattern off the cricut machine and the grass is a sizzix die

Do you like the snow capped mountains and the swampy lake in the background? It has taken the best part of a day to make but I've really enjoyed it and what a useful gift bag too :)

I'm going to pop over and add this to a blog I've heard about called Passionately Artistic which allows you to link up your crafty projects and see other creations made by some very talented people too...do go and have a look :)

My other bit of news is that I've been asked to join the design team at St Lukes Charity Card challenge by Tara from August onwards and I'm delighted to say that I said yes ... it's for such a great cause :)
It's a monthly card-making challenge with prizes and the hospice benefits by you kindly donating the cards you make so they can be sold to raise vital funds for the work that they do for the patients and their families , of course this is not obligatory to join in with the challenges but the more cards sent in the more money will be raised . Please hop over to the blog and see why this challenge was personally set up by Tara .

Thanks for stopping by....normal crafty service will resume next week X

A Paper Smooches Sugar Rush

Hi Everyone,

It's Paper Smooches time again .... I could perhaps continue this every Wednesday (hmmm scratching head, deep in thought) .
Today's card, which is live on the PS blog now, is made from the Sugar Rush stamp set and Kim's shopping cart template , to make a trolley dash you can only dream of.....

I really enjoyed paper piecing all the sweet treats before using the re-sized template to make the front and back of the trolley.
I cut a wedge out of the template to make a basket shape in the cart and used acetate for the front panel which I stamped with a grid to give the impression of wire mesh.
I've used the milkshake from the set to make the go-faster clouds behind the wheels and a flag carries the sentiment.
I just couldn't resist stamping smiley faces on the tumbling sweets and I'm in love with all those bright colours on the Kraft base ..... I hope you like it too :)

Now onto the last Paper Smooches stamp set giveaway and this week I've got a sentiment set to give away called 'Word Up' which is a very versatile set to own :)
To be in with a chance to win simply leave a comment on this post and I'll randomly draw a winner next week on my final PS Guest Designer post along with the other two sets which you can still enter for here and here .

For more creative inspiration hop over to the Paper Smooches website, I'm sure Kim would love to see you there ... I'm going to pop over and enter this card into CASual Fridays too as the theme is sweets and treats this week, and this certainly fits that theme :)
Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments on my slinky dog last week, it means so much to me to read your kind words.
I have tried to visit as many of your blogs as possible but if not then please know that I really appreciate you taking time out to comment on my creations :)

Bye for now and good luck in the giveaways X

Make it personal @ OLW

Hi Everyone,
A quick post for a quick card and also because I'm deeply engrossed in house tidying (not through fun, more like necessity), nothing like a visit from your MIL to help you pull your finger out:)

"This week's One-Layer Wednesday Challenge is to Make It Personal. In other words, make a card for a particular person that is custom designed for him or her".

I almost thought I'd sit this weeks OLW out as I completely drew a blank and then I remembered a set of Badminton rackets and shuttlecock stamps I bought yonks ago (like you do)! I think they were just waiting for me to discover one layer cards as I quite think they suit it, see what you think....

...... this is for my Brother-in-law who is an avid badminton player and probably the reason I bought the stamps in the first place, they are from Dimension Fourth who carry a great range of stamps some of which are more unusual ... like badminton equipment! lol

So that's it short and sweet, like the card which is 4" square (my fave one layer size)

Thanks for looking in...back tomorrow with another Paper Smooches card and the last stamp set to giveaway:)

Bye X

Comic Circles

Hi Everyone,

Well I've had all weekend to think of an idea for my card for Less is More this week and still had no clear direction when I sat down yesterday evening. The theme is 'CIRCLES'...not just the one, include a few,  and remembering to keep it clean and simple too.

In the end I chose an un-inked stamp set and this is what I came up with....

I thought I'd go for a comic book style so I stamped the images and coloured them with promarkers before using a circular punch to cut out part of the images and mounting them onto a row of black circles. The earth badge is from a bargain set in the sale at Hobbycraft and is mounted onto the inside of the card so it peeks through an aperture on the front ......

That way I could continue the sentiment onto the inside ....... in the words of John 'Hannibal' Smith,  I love it when a plan comes together :)
I'm sure this week will gallop by,  I have my Mother-in-law coming to stay for a few nights so blogging time may suffer and it's run down to the end of term so sports day's and school BBQ's to go to.....can't wait for the hols to start but first I have to make the house presentable including tackling the ever growing ironing pile before it topples over...aarrgghh!
I'll be back later to see what all the other Limettes have made for this weeks theme, I'm sure it'll be a popular week again :)
Bye for now and thanks for visiting today X

Casual Sweets and Treats

Hi Everyone,

This is more like a summer card and it's for Casual Fridays this week whose theme is Sweets and Treats .....

The lolly is made from strips of card and mounted onto a stick, the chocolate topping sauce is glossy accents on top of brown card with beads sprinkled onto it when wet to make the hundreds and thousands :)

I'm also entering this card into Summer fun at Passion for Papertrey  because it's a wishful summery card (unlike yesterday's) and I used the PTI Canvas IP for the background mat :)
That's it folks...a quick post as lots to do , then I can have a hop around your blogs later.
Thanks for looking ....bye X

A Raindance Card !!!

Okay, please don't blame me for the rain this morning because of the card I have to show you .... I'm sure it had no effect on the weather at all :)

This card is for no less than three challenges, oooh get me combining challenges eh !!!
First challenge is Moxie Fab world which have a lush coat as there Tuesday Trigger this week, Oh I'd love to have a nipped in waist like that again :)

Next is St Luke's Charity Cards who are asking for Black,White and another colour this month. This is a very worthy Challenge site as you can also send your cards to St Luke's Hospice so they can sell them to raise much needed funds for the Hospice so please hop over to the blog to read more here and support the fab work they do :)
...And finally A Passion for Papertrey , a challenge site I've been stalking for a while and now I have a  few stamp sets from PTI I can join in too :)  They have a challenge running called sweet summertime and I thought this very fitting .... I know tongue in cheek stuff but our summers usually turn out this way :)

Stamps and dies are PTI and I've used part of  a brass stencil to emboss the raindrop background.

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments on my last post, I'm gradually trying to visit those I can and say hello too but if I don't get round to you please know that I appreciate your kind, supportive words ;oD

That's all for now folks
Thanks for calling by X

A Slinky Paper Smooch!

Yay, it's Paper Smooches time everyone and this is my card for today's post which is also live on the PS blog now .

I've used the cute little Dachshund on the 'Santa Paws' set and turned him into a slinky dog .... yep my inspiration was from Toy Story and of course the actual toy that I so wanted as a child :)
He's cut from textured paper and the spring is made from wire wrapped around a slim paintbrush handle and then slightly squashed so as to make the card more mail friendly :)

I've turned him into a love'o'meter on this card although you can't actually move him ( I'll have to work on that design ) and I just love all that clean white space around him too . The sentiments along the scale are stamps from various Paper Smooches sets along with the different sized hearts too .

He's such a cute dawg ... hope you like him too :)

Now for the  GIVE-AWAY and this week I'm giving away the 'Snow Dudes' stamp set ... aren't they so cute?

For a chance to win this set please just leave a comment on this blog post and then on the 27th July (my last DT post) I'll randomly select a name to win the set ..... simples eh?

... and in case you missed it, you are still able to join in on last weeks post to win a different set here .

Please hop over to the Paper Smooches blog to see what the resident DT have been making and for even more inspiration the PS blog has a Flickr group too :)

Thank you so much for joining me today and hey, I got my 100th follower yesterday so a big Thank You to all you wonderful ladies who have given me confidence and support since I started my little ol' blog back in February .... I never thought I would get so hooked ..... that's what they all say, I know , and it nicely coincides with this months Paper Smooches blog candy too by way of a thank you to you all :)

Thanks and bye for now .... X

Party Legs @ LIM

Hi Everyone,

Well crafting time is getting less as the school term comes to an end and my Sister-in-laws 50th birthday is at the end of this week so it's time to combine a challenge and requirement this week :)

This week at Less is More we are back to a One Layer Card and this week they want to see ....

SOMETHING WITH LEGS

I don't have many Penny Black stamps but the few I do have are mainly animals and this is one of my faves ... they are 'The Sensations'- that makes me smile ... weren't they a pop group in the 60's or 70's???

I've generated the sentiment on the computer and printed directly onto the card using a font called Fabulous 50's ... this is a pure fluke, I've only just looked to see the font name!!!

The girls are coloured with Coloursoft pencils with glossy accents applied to the bead necklace and that's all there is to it .... I didn't think my SIL would like her age plastered on the front but I can't let her get away without a reference to age at all !!

Please pop over and visit the Less is More blog so see the excellent entries and join in, even if a one layer card is outside your comfort zone, it's good to try something different :)
Mandi and Chrissie do a sterling job each week coming up with fab challenges and commenting on all the entries along with all the other Limettes .

I'll be back later to see what everyone else has made in more detail but at the moment I'm off to to take the mutt to be washed and trimmed .... bless him last week it was jabs and this week a haircut, at least he'll be cooler in this weather and I think he enjoys it really :)

Thanks for calling in to say hello and don't forget it's my Paper Smooches blog post tomorrow and a chance to win another PS stamp set too  X

A CASual feast

Hello fellow crafters,

I was so excited to see that CASual Fridays has 'shaped cards' for there challenge this week ... I love anything novelty or made from materials to look like something else but this is CASual fridays and I'm not sure if my card is CAS????

I cannot take credit for designing the card as I've used a printed template from an old craft magazine ( I have a large folder full of cuttings and templates from when I reduced my magazine pile ) so I chose the card stock and traced the shapes to cut out and ink . I'm most pleased with the burger itself as I've used a fabric texture stamp by Inkadinkadoo in red brick, eggplant and sahara sand chalk inks on the plain brown card to make it look meaty and juicy :)

The onion rings are made from 'off white' vellum and the sesame seeds, with Anitas 3d glossy paint in cream ... I'm surprised this has not dried up as it's quite old now :)
The individual pieces are all stuck onto a piece of plain card that I trimmed to shape and folded on the side .
The sentiment is from Paper smooches 'vegtastic' stamp set and was just begging to be used :)

I'm also linking this to Julies snippets challenge because all of the card was from my scrap bin, including the card for the base shape too :)

I hope it fits the bill....or menu in this case:)
Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend X

One Layer clouds

Hi everyone,

Since moving out into the countryside, the one thing I appreciate the most is the uninterrupted view of the big sky we have and watching the weather and clouds roll in and out again, so when I saw the challenge at Jennifer styles blog this week for OLW was to use clouds on your card I decided to recreate my favourite sky scene

I love the wispy lines of cloud above a sunset as they change from the usual white grey to a slate grey with lovely highlights underneath....quite different from the sky at the moment as we have just had a downpour!

This is another 4 inch sq card and I have used chalk to make the sky and then used coloursoft pencils to add the clouds. I've double stamped the seed head in black to give the 'silhouette' feel when you are looking at the sunset.
I hope this fits the challenge as my clouds are quite a small part of the scene :)

It's also a one layer challenge tomorrow at Less is More so can't wait to see what Mandi and Chrissie have in store for us:{

Thanks so much for calling by, I'm sure I'll be back over the weekend X

A cake shop treat

Hi everyone,

You know when you have a card idea kicking around in your mind and then a challenge comes along that you can mould it too ....... doesn't happen very often or I usually forget the idea , not this time :)

This card is for the current lawnscaping challenge

and so here's the inside too .....

..... yep trust me to think of a cake shop for a birthday card :)
I used a scallop die from MFT to make the awning front and then hand cut the rest of it. The window frames are made from a sizzlets die and then I've cut through them to make the apertures , the rest are Lawn Fawn stamps which I've coloured with promarkers and cut out. I've just noticed I've stamped the paperclip wrong ..... it doesn't look like it's clipped at all , oh well you get the idea :)

We had a lovely day out in Oxford on Wednesday looking at some of the colleges with Hannah ... oh boy  what a lot of walking, we'll have to go back again in September to look at those we couldn't get to yesterday , but Hannah really likes what she's seen so far and will definitely apply. To get an interview would be brilliant ...... to get a place offered to her would be amazing so we'll have to wait and see. Funny to think last time we all went to Oxford she was a toddler in a pushchair and now we are looking at Colleges , we should go more often but then again Cambridge is closer to us and just as lovely ..... we'll have to swap allegiance if she gets a place though :)

Well ..... the grey clouds are gathering again , best get the washing in ..... so I can put it on the ironing pile :(
Thanks for popping by today , enjoy the rest of your day X

Paper Smooches GD Post and a Give-away

Hi folks , thanks for dropping in :)

This is a scheduled post because I am currently wandering around  Oxford looking at University Colleges with Hannah and hubbie .... I'm sure I'll be in awe of it all , it's such a lovely city:)

So  , with great excitement , here is my first card using the new Paper Smooches stamps that were released at the beginning of the month , they are so cool .
I've actually used two of the sets to make this little Jellyfish ...... his head is from the ice cream in 'Sugar Rush' and his tentacles are fish tales from 'Surf & Turf' .
I've used Tim Holtz ink to colour the panel as the sea and used the seagull squiggle to make the waves , all the other images are coloured using promarkers .
Kim's Stamps are so versatile because they can be mixed and matched so easily , coloured and paper pieced . I would love for you to try them too ...... which leads nicely onto my little give-away this month , which is a way of me saying Thank you to all you lovely ladies that visit my blog and leave such sweet comments :)

I have three PS stamp sets to give away and today it's the turn of  Spiffy scooters.....
... all you need to do is pop by to say hello and leave a comment on this post ,  then on my last GDT post ( 27th July ) I will randomly pick a person from the comments to win this stamp set .
I have 2 more stamps sets to give away, so for the next two weeks , pop back on the Wednesdays for a chance to win other sets of the gorgeous PS stamps.

That's it .... I've probably managed to make it sound more complicated than it is but I hope you'll agree it's a fair and fun way to say Thank you ....... I can't remember how I filled my time before crafting and blogging ...... oh yes I have a poor neglected but very understanding family , lol

Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope you like my card X

Ink on Ink at One Layer Wednesday

Morning peeps ,

This will be a quick post to mirror the time it took to make the card .... well after I'd found the stamps and chose the ink colour that is :)

It's for OLW and this week we have to literally stamp a design .... quick layers of ink ...... no sponging , embellishing or masking

I decided to make it a sympathy card as they are the sort you often need to rustle up quickly in a 'no fuss' CAS style .
I'm ashamed to say I re-found these stamps in a folder I had forgotten about and dug out my old Hero Arts shadow inks for the background design ....... I'm surprised they are still inky after hanging around for 6yrs!

I'm actually pleased with it considering it was made in a flash, hope you like it too :)

I'm off to take the mutt to the vets now for his annual jabs , he literally changes before my eyes from a mini Tasmanian devil to a piece of jelly as we cross the threshold into the waiting room , lol :)

Thanks for your time and have a good day , remember to pop back tomorrow for a little giveaway X

All Blue for Less is More and news of a GIVEAWAY !!!!

Morning fellow crafters ,

If you could see the state of my craft desk and the collection of blue buttons and cardstock on it , you would know which card I had just finished making this morning ...... yes it's LIM time again and this week it's the turn of the colour challenge .......

SHADES of BLUE
You can use a white card base, but we do want to see more than one colour of blue, not just one!

I played around with a couple of ideas before reaching for my jar of blue buttons and my new PTI stamps - 'Everyday Button Bits' .

I used masking strips and blue ink to make the sky background and then arranged the buttons to be a guide for the sentiment and basket placement . The landscape is just cut freehand from navy cardstock .
I love the tranquil feel to the scene and the blue is such a calming colour , hope you like it too :)

Just pop over to Less is More and see all the wonderful entries so far and the sea of blue thumbnails ...... you'll be inspired to join in the fun I'm sure :)

I'm so excited because I'm guest designer over at Paper Smooches this month and my cards will appear every Weds in July on the PS blog , so I've decided to giveaway three sets of Paper Smooches stamps during the month . I'll share my first card and the giveaway details this Weds afternoon , I have to time it with the PS blog and they are about 8 hours behind us , but should be late afternoon :)

Please pop over and see the fun stamps that Kim Hughes designs for yourself , they are lovely images to paper piece or colour and the blog is full of inspiration from the talented resident designers and followers .

I've made and blogged a few cards from the PS stamps already and here is a recent addition made using the peas from 'Vegtastic'

Thanks for your visit today and hope to see you again Wednesday X
