Seeing Hexagons

Hello there,

I'm excited to be joining the talented ladies at CASology today as guest designer after my interactive engagement card won me the chance for a second time :0) I'm pretty sure you'll love the cue word for this weeks challenge....

As you probably can tell I like to skirt round the obvious themes that come to mind and look for something a little different..... well, I recently found these sequins in my daughters room whilst rummaging through her crafty stash for something else, (oops... she reads this blog!!) and when I saw them in my 'must use these' box, an idea was born....

Now this photo is looking rather blurry to me and I'm hoping it's just my rubbish monitor!!... but I'm sure you don't need me to point out the hexagons in the sequins anyhow :0)  This new Memory Box die was on my desk so I just trimmed the head of the stalks and replaced it with sequins... which are a pretty pastel green but look a lot paler in the photo :0)
I think they imitate the flowers pretty well and YAY me for being on trend for once without having to buy stash!!

I want to say thanks to Melissa for the pleasure of joining the DT this week and urge you to go and visit the DT's wonderful creations over at the CASology blog, hope you can play along too :0)

Thanks for stopping by
Jenny x

Ink on Ink at One Layer Wednesday

Morning peeps ,

This will be a quick post to mirror the time it took to make the card .... well after I'd found the stamps and chose the ink colour that is :)

It's for OLW and this week we have to literally stamp a design .... quick layers of ink ...... no sponging , embellishing or masking

I decided to make it a sympathy card as they are the sort you often need to rustle up quickly in a 'no fuss' CAS style .
I'm ashamed to say I re-found these stamps in a folder I had forgotten about and dug out my old Hero Arts shadow inks for the background design ....... I'm surprised they are still inky after hanging around for 6yrs!

I'm actually pleased with it considering it was made in a flash, hope you like it too :)

I'm off to take the mutt to the vets now for his annual jabs , he literally changes before my eyes from a mini Tasmanian devil to a piece of jelly as we cross the threshold into the waiting room , lol :)

Thanks for your time and have a good day , remember to pop back tomorrow for a little giveaway X

LIM is all White.....

........ as Jonathan Ross would say, but whilst it is an excellent challenge blog I was referring to this weeks requirements to use "white on white" on your card .

So many ideas in my head for this one but I decided to settle with  paper cutting to make a couple of Calla Lilies
I used a template from a magazine cutting , I have a whole folder of cuttings for ideas and templates , I traced the shapes onto the card using an embossing tool so as not to introduce pencil lines at all and cut them out . I used a mini mister to dampen the card so I could shape it and then assembled the pieces on the card . The sentiment had to be second stamping with black ink so as to soften the ink colour and the background is embossed using a cuttlebug folder using Mandi and Chrissie's tutorial this week .

I have to say there are some stunning entries this week and the page of thumbnails over at LIM is quite something to see , I never realised how many shades of white there are :)

I also want to say thank you to all my lovely followers and people who comment on my blog , I really appreciate your kind words :)

Thanks so much for visiting me today X

Three of a kind @ OLW

It's coffee break time so I thought I'd post my cards for OLW this week over at Jennifer's blog here.

This is this weeks requirements -

"The challenge is to make three one-layer cards.  Yes, three.  Make three cards all using the same image stamp but vary the occasion by changing the sentiment and/or ink colour and/or card stock colour.  You must use the same image stamp on each card."

I have to say deciding on a stamp was hard , knowing you had to vary the design and occasion on a One Layer Card .
These are my cards

The stamp is from Birds Galore by Inkadinkado and it's shape didn't leave me much choice for positioning on the card so I decided to change the way I used it instead . The first image is stamped on a sponged background , the second is embossed with silver powder and the third is chalked after stamping with Versa mark .

This challenge took some thinking about but I'm finally pleased with the result after several attempts :)

Thanks for looking X

Non-floral sympathy card

Hello again , second post today ,

Time is running out for the OLW challenge here so I managed to make my entry this morning .
The requirement is a One Layer Sympathy card without using flowers or tree images so after searching through my stamps I came up with nothing suitable , I've ordered a set of stamps that would be suitable but they have not arrived in time so I decided to use stencils and chalks . I used a nestie to make a stencil and then chalked a dusk skyline , silhouetted hills and then added a few birds , the sentiment is from Stampin Up .
I'm quite pleased how it turned out as the sky colours give the card a tranquil feel and the embossed border frames it nicely ... its surprising what you can produce when the supplies are limited :)

That really is all for today , thanks for looking X
