A Chef and a Llama!!!

Hehe... well that could be a scene from The Muppet Show or the opening line to a joke I suppose but it's actually the characters on a couple of DT cards I have to share with you today....

I couldn't resist this scenario with a flipped pancake on the floor and this chef looking a little embarrassed and surprised!! I tucked the pan and spatula behind his back and set him with a brick wall backdrop, the pancake is an oval die-cut coloured with Copics. I mixed and matched the sentiment from different stamp sets so it's easier to leave it chopped up on the card ;)

Next card, and this funny llama has the best expression .... it goes so well with the clever sentiment..

I was channelling the Inca style (I think!!) with the bright stepped up border and stencilling on the Kraft card. Perfect card for a guy, in fact both cards are..... got to love stamp sets that are unisex :)

Kitschy Recipe Book

Hi there :)

I'm popping by to share this notebook I decorated, I've used MFT's Kitschy Kitchen so I could turn it into a recipe book/kitchen organiser... mine is looking a little tired and needs updating ;)
I went with a colour scheme to compliment my kitchen and added a dash of yellow for the fruit... love these colours together :)

I used pigment ink to get crisp images, dye ink was going to soak into the Kraft to much and then I'd loose the floral detail. I've used Prismacolour pencils to colour the patterns on the crockery and add shading to the fruit. The shelves and banana stand are not in the stamp set but can be cut with the matching die set so I just made stencils to ink through instead.

I carried the theme on in the inside too and stamped a few images on random pages using pigment inks. I just chose a few to decorate but will probably add more as I fill the pages... here's a little montage of a few of the designs..

CASE designer at Time Out challenge

Hi there :)

Well I'm very happy and excited to say that I'm joining the ladies over at the
Time Out challenge blog today as their CASE designer for March.

Designing a card for others to CASE!!.. eek! It's not something I've done
before so I just decided to put that thought aside and have fun :)
I was inspired by the onset of spring and the warmer sunny days we are
having which means the birds are busy preparing for nesting.....

I love these little nesting boxes which can be cut from pretty
patterned paper for a pop of colour..... perfect for a New Home card :)

I'm hoping there's plenty of scope in my design to inspire you to play along...
can't wait to see what the Time Out design team have created too :)

All the challenge details can be found over on the blog here and I'm looking forward
to seeing the cards that appear in the gallery... hope to see you there :)

Thank you so much Sandie and the team for inviting me to guest with you this month :)

Coffee for Dad

I'm going to start by saying.. "Thank goodness for coffee!"
Not only is it a much needed drink around here but also a great theme for masculine cards
and luckily the girls at Altenew agree because they put the word DAD on one
of the mugs in the Coffee Love stamp set...

It just so happens that my dad is a coffee drinker so this card was always going to happen.
I smooshed the background with watercolour and went for a monochromatic
colour theme.. 'coffee' colour of course :)

Love it when a card kind of makes itself :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

A Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

The new challenge this month at Seven Hills Crafts is a
TIC-TAC-TOE board ... they seem to be a favourite for challenges and
it's fun to see which line inspires your crafting project too :)

As you can see, I went with the diagonal line containing animals, big words and die cutting.
I went through my Paper Smooches stamps and found these cute critters to sit
alongside the Big sentiment.... love the whimsy style of the letters which
are a great size for cutting with patterned paper.

We'd love to see you play along with us... which line on the board inspires you?
All the details can be found on the blog here with details of the prize up for grabs
Hope to see you there :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Keyrings!!

I was pretty chuffed last autumn when I decorated a couple of coasters using coffee stamps from Altenew. The ink took well to the chalk paint I'd used on them and didn't smear when the varnish went on top....  I also loved the distressed look so I thought I'd decorate two keyrings in the same way....

Okay, so they're quite large keyrings... the sort you have around the house,
not to hang on your car keys.. Lol 😊
We needed one for our conservatory door key so I naturally
reached for Altenew's Garden Grow stamp set.

As before, I stamped the images using the masking technique and then used the negative part of the mask to sponge and swipe colour through onto the pots. The chalky surface absorbs the ink so you need a few more layers for a vibrant finish. To colour the smaller leaves
I used a cotton bud to pick up and apply the ink.

For the rather regal looking cat I made a couple of negative stencils for the simple markings
which I layered.... I thought they matched the fun whimsy style of the image :)

I finished them off with a couple of coats of matt Mod Podge to protect them
from knocks and scratches, which I'm sure they'll be subjected too!!

Thanks for stopping By :)
