Blue Headphones

Well I'm truly scrapping the barrel for a blog title today!!... Lol :)
I'm joining in with Retrosketches this week... it's been a while as sketches aren't my thing normally and to be fair I made this card before I saw the sketch so it's quite a fluke really :)

I'm happy to say that My Favourite Things is the newest brand in store over at Make the Day Special Stamp Store... in fact the new July release will be available tomorrow morning :) Yippee more goodies to play with!!

To give these headphones a bit of depth I've sponged blue and white ink onto the blue pieces to make shadows and highlights as well as layering up a few diecuts .... I just love the detail in MFT dienamics dies.
I had to include a wire to the headset although I've been informed that it is possible for them to be wireless these days!!! Showing my age now ;)

Thanks for stopping by

Freestyling with Florals

Well my new Mama Elephant goodies arrived last week... just in the middle of the half-term hols!!!  Luckily I had a chance to play with the Freestyle Florals set yesterday afternoon whilst hubby was out getting soaked with the mutt and the boy was happily watching his fave TV programme ;)

I'm sharing both these cards on my DT blog post today over at Make the Day Special Stamp Store and they were inspired by a few challenges out there in blogland at the moment so I best get them entered.

My first card is for Colour Me, which has a gorgeous pallette this week and just look at the graphic to go with it...Yum!!! It also follows the sketch at Retro Sketches this week too...

I used distress inks to colour these... they are fast becoming my favourite way of watercolouring because they are so forgiving :)

My next project is for the Monochrome challenge at CASology....apologies if you don't like the colour green!!...Lol
Not as happy with this but it's okay... tried using proper watercolours and there's definitely a difference in the way you use them!! Love the vellum sentiment strip though, it softens the edge between the florals and the block of colour :)

Well that's all from me... need to get the washing out whilst the sun is shining and before the showers arrive later!!

I Heart Art :0)

Well hello again. I have been playing with the new 'I Heart Art' stamp set from Paper Smooches, it's just sooo cute and a great excuse to get those colouring pencils out... like I need an excuse!!!

I've used a couple of sketch challenges and this first card is based on this weeks CAS(e) this Sketch....

I wanted to try the technique that Jennifer Mcguire used in the Clean and Simple 2 class but my watercolour pencils are not nearly vibrant enough so I watercoloured the canvas first and then stamped over the top of it, I really love that sentiment.... perfect for a non-slushy valentine :0).
I also dig that chunky brush, such a great shape to colour in.... guess I should have put colour on the bristles but we'll pretend it's been cleaned up :0)

I couldn't resist making this next card which loosely (hope it's accepted) fits in with Retro Sketches this week...

I'm always a sucker for a colour splash and red, black n' white really are the top of the class for colour pops!!.... I also love that splat stamp,  it's very versatile as paint or ink. Yep, I think this is one of my favourite Paper Smooches sets :0)

Right time to go find that craft desk again...it's quite small and it's surprising how making a couple of CAS cards creates a complete mess.... does anyone else find that or is it just me!!??

Thanks for your visit :0)

Make the Day Special 'May' Blog Hop

Hello Everyone....

Today is our first blog hop over at Make the Day Special, a few of us Design Team girlies are showcasing the same stamp set and we hope to bring you a different set of stamps each month but for this first hop we are all using the Lawn Fawn set called Blissful Botanicals....

Lawn Fawn stamps are great to work with, they stamp like a dream and are perfect for colouring or paper piecing. Emily is the only UK stockist of these and many other International brands of stamps that would otherwise incur big postage and customs costs to buy from overseas, just pop over and visit the store for a browse at the end of the hop... I can highly recommend it *wink* :0)

The hop is purely for fun and to show you how each of us has used the stamps, I can't wait to go look at the rest of the projects as well....we kept it as a surprise to each other too :0)
You should arrived here from Clair's blog but if not, you can start the hop at the Make the Day Special blog.  This is the hop order:

  1. Make the Day Special Blog
  2. Clair
  3. Jenny (that's me )
  4. Kate
  5. Lucia
  6. Ruby
So with just six stops its a short and sweet blog hop and without further ado here's my card...

The thing I love about Blissful Botanicals most are those paired leaf fronds...they're fun to colour and look cute fussy cut, especially with a white edge to them!! I stamped them in Black Memento and coloured with Promarkers before cutting them out and making my little flower arrangement.
I didn't want to pass up the chance to play along with a couple of challenges so I'm also entering my card into Retro Sketches and a new Colour Challenge blog called Dynamic Duos...

So now it's time to hop onto Kate's Blog to see what flowery goodness she has in store for you.... you know what, I might just see you there :0)

Thanks so much for hopping along with us

Making An Easter Nest!

Whilst I'm still without wheels and my mojo is alive and kicking at the moment, I disappeared into my craft room yesterday to get a card idea from my head and onto card...so to speak :0)

Using the delightful Easter photo inspiration at Jay Gees Nook and the fab sketch at Retro Sketches I decided to go with a springtime Easter card.... oh and it's another for Less is More too :0)

Easter time, to me, symbolises the changes taking place in our own back gardens and new life in the animal kingdom so a clutch of speckled eggs in a twiggy nest is what I really wanted to make and I had just the Memory Box die in mind....
.

I started by cutting the Memory Box Grapevine Wreath die

and then cut it into suitable size sections making sure to give the cut ends  realistic twiggy slant

and when layered up in a nest shape it looks really effective... glueing it was a lot easier than you imagine with strategically placed dots of wet glue on the wider areas of the twigs .... now I know how the birds do it *wink* :0)

I punched out three eggs, with an ancient punch that Ive had for ages, and used repositionable tape to glue them to my craft mat before sponging them with Aqua Mist and Sea Breeze VersaMagic. The speckles are added lightly with a very open density sponge in Rich Cocoa Memento.

The wood grain panel is embossed using a PTI impression plate, the speckled card was a great find in my stash for the rustic feel and just had to be teamed up with the hessian strip...... even the sewing machine has had another outing for this card..... can you tell I'm so pleased with it??

Seems a timely moment to remind you that the current Springtime Challenge at St Luke's Charity Card Challenge ends mid-day Saturday so you still have time to link your cards up for the chance to win a set of Waltzing Mouse Stamps and help a great cause too...hop over and take a look for yourself :0)

Here are Arielle's Sketch and Judith's photo inspiration board, whilst over at Less is More this fits in with Embossing, Spring and Off Centre.

Right that's quite enough from me, phew what a long post but it's mostly pictures so hopefully you didn't mind :0)

Thanks for looking

Mothers Day Duo

Hi everyone, this is gonna be super quick because it's late and I should be tucked up in bed!!!

I've been crafting this evening for Mothers Day having only just realised that I need to post my Mother-in-laws card tomorrow!! honestly.... head like a sieve!
So just to put more pressure on me I decided to use this weeks Retro Sketches for MIL's card and I'm just getting it in under the wire!!!

This card really uses up quite a few scraps, including the other half of that gingham tablecloth!, and came together quite quickly.... I love the two teacups for a Mothers Day card, we usually visit the local garden centre for a browse and a drink in the restaurant when Mum comes up to visit us so I thought it was perfect for her :0)

My Mums card is inspired by the Clean and Simple sketch this week and these fabulous digi sentiments from Pink Petticoat

Love that paper, its from 5&dime by October Afternoon..... reminds me so much of the linen you would find in our old airing cupboard :0)
Decided to make a top layer with a band for the buttons and even managed to sew relatively straight lines with my machine!!!
Super CAS but I love it that way :0)

Right..... really need to go and get some sleep, it'll be dark glasses for me tomorrow... Lol
See ya'round and thanks for looking :0)
