Well I'm almost ashamed to say, but I posted this card on the Make the Day Special blog this week and I got totally mixed up with the film these iconic titles came from... can you believe I said it was Star Trek instead of Star Wars!!! ....I know.. *slaps forehead*... Okay so confession time is over and I hang my head in shame but let's get onto the card itself...
I've had these sets from Neat and Tangled for a few months now and thought it was time to have a play with them. I watched Julie Ebersole create a gorgeous night sky with mini distress ink cubes but I don't have those and watercolouring with DI's wasnt cutting it so I switched to my Gansai Kuretake paints instead and oh boy are the colours intense!! To keep the time warp flecks white I clear embossed them on watercolour card and then ironed off the EP when the watercolouring was dry.... that also helps to flatten and dry it further, ready for embossing the sentiment in gold ;)
I love the pearlescent white in the gansai paints, just perfect for a galaxy in a deep space scene :) I'm getting ahead with a grad card but I have a certain young man in mind for this card *wink* and I love that you can use this set for lots of other occasions too...perfect any Sci-fi geek!!

I'm entering this into CASology this week which has flight as the cue word...quite apt I think but I hope it's CAS enough!! :)
Thanks for stopping by :)

Stamps used : Time Warp, A Long Time Ago
I'll slap my forehead too then as i didn't notice and I am a major sci-fi geek! Brilliant card. I made one using these stamps and was so disappointed by the end result I didn't bother showing it on my blog. However, now I've seen your a-mazing make I'll give it another go and try harder!!! Jo x
ReplyDeletePlease stop slapping yourself Jenny... people might notice. I did laugh out loud though, this card and the sentiment are so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGenius Jenny.
ReplyDeleteThe card is so gorgeous, that's what matters.... And it's only because my sister is a Trekkie and I'm a Star Wars fan I noticed :). Beautiful colouring, and I didn't realise you could iron off EP - what a great technique! Xx
ReplyDeleteGreat card! I am in awe over that fabulous sky - amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThat is such an awesome night sky, Jenny ... just gorgeous! Those Kuretake Gansai watercolours are so creeping up my wishlist ... thanks for enabling! Live long and prosper!! Anita :)

ReplyDeleteSTUNNING! I love the drama of this card - perfect for the occasion! Beam me up! (or should that be Use the Force! lol!)
ReplyDeleteLol , I could easily make the same mistake. Doesn’t matter because this card is amazing Jenny! Amazing sky!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh out loud when I read the introduction paragraph to your blog post, Jenny :-) Mainly because I did notice that mistake up on the Make The Day Special Stamp Store blog, but then I told myself to not be a jerk and not comment. I figured I was just being a crazy nerd :-)
ReplyDeleteI do love your card and your wonderful background. It's really super pretty!
This is gorgeous! Glad you persisted with creating your space because it rocks and is so awesome that you can be forgiven for your Star Trek gaff! LOL!! Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
