Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge 'Anything Goes' week

So we have a fifth Sunday this month which means an extra 'Anything Goes' challenge over at Paper Smooches Sparks challenge blog and quite a few of the DT are playing along for your inspiration :0)

I've been mixing and combining my PS stamps sets again and now that mad proffessor from Great Chemistry is a suave guy in a purple velvet suit enjoying a cocktail!!!...okay, so that's perhaps not that suave!!! To change up his gloved hand  I just didn't ink that part of the stamp and drew in a cuff to his suit instead. The cocktail glass from Free Spirits was stamped first and masked so it would sit pretty in his hand, then I just cut an extra set of fingers and thumb to place across the glass. The sentiment from Get Outta Town seamed to just fit perfectly in the giant speech bubble made with a Quotables die :0)

He looks quite an eccentric chap and probably someone you'd sidle along the bar away from.. Lol :0)

Here are the links to the DT members that have cards to share with you this week or visit the Sparks blog for more details :0)

Now it's time to go forth and get those Paper Smooches stamps inky, we love seeing what you create :0)

Presents and Balloons

Phew... I'm quite glad for a Monday without too much heat because it's been a hectic weekend!! The house is quiet and empty and I'm nursing a bit of a headache which makes a change from hayfever at the moment!!

I have a two cards for a couple of colour challenges out there in Blogland as well as CASology's 100th challenge... well done ladies on the centenary :0)

I've used a 'new to me' set by Neat & Tangled... I love the 'hand-drawn' images and sentiments which remind me of illustrations in old childrens books so I tried to capture that style with the colours at Colour Me... this week. The cream paper is actually a blank page from an old paperback to give it more authenticity!!

This card uses the balloons from the same stamp set and some masking... love the colours at ColourQ this week and they worked well for balloons so I thought I'd make it a celebration card for CASology too :0)

Right I'm off to chase this headache away before it takes hold for the day.... thanks for stopping by :0)

Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Drafts week

Time has just flown and I'm back here again with the new Designer Drafts challenge at Paper Smooches Sparks

This sketch has lots of scope, I decided to flip it upside down and use Calico and Daisies & Paisley's stamp sets to make a summer border bursting with colour :0)....

I have cut around and between all those flowers by hand with my craft knife!! Talk about hold your breath but it was well worth it so the inked sky could be seen through the stems. The sky is masked and inked with Salty Ocean through to Tumbled Glass and I've used the smallest cloud dies to make three masks for the top portion of the sky.

The bumpy border die is a lovely shape for making soil for my flowers to grow in and the butterfly is made from a solid flower stamp in the Calico set... I just left one petal un-inked :0) The sentiment is from Simply Said.

Here are the links to the rest of this weeks DT or visit the PS Sparks blog here for more details.

If you live in the UK you can find a huge selection of Paper Smooches stamps available at Make the Day Special not to mention great service too :0)

Thanks for your visit and I look forward to seeing you in the gallery

Off the edge!!

Hello there.... it's busy, busy here ..... Hannah is home from Uni for the summer and I'm enjoying having some female company around the house not to mention fitting all her belongings back inside these four walls!!!

I have a couple of cards for the One Layer challenge at Less is More ... the theme this week is 'off the edge' so a great opportunity to break out a new stamp set by Nina Yang at Waffle Flower Crafts.....

I just had to have these because I love the whimsy style so I looked through my colour combo board on pinterest and got stamping.....  these images remind me of printed fabric from a well known department store here in the UK don't you think ??

My second card is the one I shared on my MtDS blog post on Monday and uses the Modern Leaves set from Avery Elle in gorgeous greens, blues and sand along with a sentiment from AE's Brushed stamp set.....

I'm in awe of those crafty peeps who can make stamped images look randomly placed..... it's so hard to do and anything but random!!! Definitely a technique that needs practicing :0)

Don't forget to check out all the new stash that arrived at Make the Day Special HQ last weekend, I gather the walls are positively bulging!!! There's also big reductions on UNITY and FLOURISHES...check them out here :0)

Thanks for stopping by

Chalkboard Love!!

After all my frolicking with Paper Smooches recently I thought I should show my other stamps some love and naturally turned to Lawn Fawn :0) I wanted to play with the chalkboard in the set called 'A Good Apple' but pair it up with those cute geeky birds in 'Science of Love' and it just so happily happens that I can pop this into the current challenge at Lawnscaping too....

The challenge theme is to use embossing which I have for the white chalk images and the red hearts.... I've also added a bit of shading to the birdies with coloured pencil.
I'm hoping you can just make out the subtle background stamping on the white card... I use our new conservatory as my light tent now which is great but it's not always kind to the pale inks in photos!!.... I've used School House backdrops to make a lined paper pattern and then overstamped with images from the science set in MFT's Snow Cone hybrid ink :0)

Right that's all from me, just wondering if this glorious weather is going to be too hot to take the dog out in... I don't want to wait until later when it could turn stormy !!!

Thanks for stopping by :0)

Being Snarky!!

Haha!! ..... Snarky on a Monday morning!! What Me???  I'm sure that's unheard of *wink*

Noooo... I'm talking about the fun stamp set from Lil Inkers that's a recent addition to the store at Make the Day Special. It's a great set of sentiments that are sure to make the recepient of your cards smile :0)
I've used a couple on two cards that I'm sharing over at the store blog today...

I thought this big eyed pup from Paper Smooches had the perfect expression for this cheeky phrase... actually, this could be a useful one to send to hubby *wink*. I've water coloured this little guy, hmmmm.... I'm still trying to conquer this current trend and using Distress markers seams to be my fave way at the moment :0)

This next sentiment had my lad and I laughing, I've never heard it before but he thought it was great!!! He also loves this smug little cookie from the Lil inkers set called Smart Cookie and with his outstretched arms, he seemed a great match for this fun phrase :0)
You just have to take a look at this set to see the rest of the snarky sentiments, great fun :0)

Now onto my Paper Smooches giveaway from last week, I had 37 lovely comments but only one can be the winner and Mr Random.Org has selected comment no.12

Congratulations Julie C :0)
I'll contact you through you blog so I can get the stamp sets on their way to you.

Thanks to everyone for all your lovely comments on my first
PS Sparks Challenge blog post last week, don't forget to check out this

An Awesome Superman!!

Hello again... I know, unusually back so soon!!

Well..... with it being the first of the month on Sunday, a new challenge started at Make the Day Special and we have a sketch for you this month so I thought I'd pop by and share my inspiration card which is also going to fit in just nicely at CASual Fridays this month where Make the Day Special are sponsors too :0)

Soooo.... a guys card which includes a ribbon eh!!..... well I just cannot put my Paper Smooches stamps away at the moment and this pint sized hero has been waiting patiently to be paired with the "Awesome" from CASual Fridays 'Wait for it' stamp set and I just turned the sketch into a comic style picture. Adding a ribbon was the tricky bit but I think it serves it's purpose of underlining how Awesome he's obviously feeling :0)

Here is this months sketch at Make the day Special prize Challenge, click here to see all the details

YAY!!!! I'm back with the PS Sparks Challenge DT and a Paper Smooches Giveaway!!

Hello there, Woo Hooooooo ...yes... you may have seen the announcement last week for the new Paper Smooches Sparks DT. I count myself very lucky to have been asked to be a permanent member of the team alongside some seriously talented designers... WOW, you are in for a Paper Smooches treat each week at the challenge blog :0)

So without further a do lets kick this new term off with an Anything Goes Challenge which is always a fun way to let your creativity run loose. I've used an older set called Promenade in a CAS way to make a lunch invite using a sentiment from Think Fast.....

I love how the simple colour palette helps to keep the CAS feel and the layered frames add the illusion of perspective to the scene.... it's quite an inviting little Cafe actually... mines a Latte please if you wanted to go ahead and order :0)
To read all the details for this weeks challenge and to see what the rest of the DT have made to inspire you simply click HERE to visit the blog or click on the links below

I'm also entering my card into the challenge at Less is More this week which is to simply use more than one stamp.... I've used 5 here :0)

I have a couple of Paper Smooches stamp sets to giveaway in celebration of joining the Sparks DT again which I will send to one lucky person from the comments on this blog post. Here are the sets, one of which has been so kindly and generously donated by the lovely Tara at Make the Day Special which, in case you didn't know, is where you can buy your Paper Smooches stamps from in the UK *wink*

I will use the random number generator thingy next Sun evening to pick one lucky person to receive these fun sets and announce the winner next Mon 9th here on my blog ...no matter where you live I'll send them there so good luck and thanks for sticking with me through this long happy post, I hope to see you in the PS Sparks gallery too :0)
