Horsin' Around

Hello hello hello..... I'm here today because it's the first of the month and time for a new challenge at St Luke's Charity Card Challenge ...that's another month chalked off this year!!!

You can't have escaped noticing the Olympics going on in London at the moment so this month we have decided to keep with the theme and challenge you to make a sporty card :0)

My favourite sport is anything equestrian but particularly the cross-country and the Olympics coverage means we get to see it on TV!!!
I've always been horse-mad, I learn't to ride and would often write about, daydream about or draw them as a youngster, I was convinced I would have my own one day but life had other ideas!!!

I found a diagram of a saddle from a book which I made bigger and used as a template then hand cut the saddle blanket and horsey card base to fit the saddle proportions.... it was great fun making the stirrup leathers and running the stirrups up the straps as you do in real life :0)
This card pleases the 'making things in miniature' part of me.... I love playing with card or paper :0)

Our prize this month is generously donated by Waltzingmouse Stamps and is this stamp set called 'Blessed By You'

So what's your favourite sport and is it in the Olympics??? Why not hop over to the St Luke's blog and see how the rest of the DT were inspired by this theme.... all the details can be found there about the challenge.

Thanks for looking :0)

  23. I think this is just so cool, what a way to bring something to life with just paper and a few embellies! Horses scare me in person, but I think they are gorgeous animals!

  24. Seriously seriously genius!! That stirrup is amazing and I love the tuft of mane at the top! :D

I did some riding as a kid but it's been a long time. Did some gymnastics too but that's been even longer! LOL! Love to watch them both on TV though. :)

And when it comes to the Olympics - Congrats on doing so well yesterday!!!- we (Sweden) haven't been very successful (yet!???), except for the horse eventing silver (-:
It's funny how a sport you (I) know nothing about suddenly can become so interesting and exciting!
