After last weeks trials and tribulations at home, my crafting time was not productive over the weekend for this weeks Less is More card...... I decided to walk away and mull over some ideas which seems to have worked because I knuckled down this morning and made a card I am happy with :0)
This weeks requirement is script...other than the sentiment, on a one layer card ! I do enjoy the one layer weeks because I find it helps to narrow down the stash and techniques that can be used!
I have the Hero Arts newsprint background so I had the idea to use it through a mask and the newspaper wrapped teapot and cup was born!! Ideal for a New Home card I thought...... they're usually the first items to be unpacked on moving day :0)
Old Paper and Antique Linen DI were used to give the paper an aged look and then extra shading with my coloursoft pencils. The sentiment is computer generated ... font is CK Toggle.
This is the first card I made on Saturday morning which is okay but I'm just not enthralled with it, not my usual style and does it have enough white space??.... perhaps that's why I'm not keen!!
Thank you for all your caring comments regarding James, he is back at school this week and is much happier now things have settled down again which makes for a happier Mum too :0)
Thanks for stopping by today, it's great to have you here :0)

Okay, that teapot is amazing! I really though it was a die cut or something as it looks so 3D!! It's the perfect image for a new home card. :)
ReplyDeleteThe second card is gorgeous too - just a totally different feel from the first. Love the layered stamping and shading and the touch of twine.
Glad to hear James is back at school and I hope he has a smoother week this week. Big hugs to you!
The cards are great. I like your teapot!

the second card is lovely, but the first one is absolutely brilliant, jenny! it definitely showcases your perfect CAS style!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Jenny! Our weather is gorgeous here this morning. Supposed to hit 70 today! I really love your teapot. Love the thought of it wrapped in newspaper - it looks fabulous! And the other card is wonderful too. I love the colors you used, and I love the idea of the layout looking like a sheet of stamps. Both fabby as always! Glad James is on the mend! xo
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Jenny, I love your tea pot card, and they also fit this weeks challenge at The Ribbon Reel!
ReplyDeletethese are both so awesome...I love that teapot on that newspaper background and the other card is so awesome....what a fun design...love them both..
ReplyDeleteGoodness knows why you were not enthralled with the first card you made, Jenny...it's lovely! But, knowing what a perfectionist you are, you went away and came up with something totally unique...as always! Two fabulous cards!! xx

LOve the newsprint teapot and cup. It is a great idea to use the background stamp.
ReplyDeleteGlad things are going better for you. I like both of your cards--really. That teapot with the newspaper stamp, however, is just brilliant. I wish that HA had made that series clear rather than wood. I would have bought all of them!
ReplyDeleteYour teapot card is amazing! And as usual, I love to hear your thought process behind the card.
ReplyDeleteYour second card is lovely as well, but I definitely agree that the first one is more "you":)
Jenny your teapot card is amazing (I love both your cards), but this is fab! Haven't done mine yet, were having computer problems (this is little laptop talking). Glad things have settled down with James, hope it continues.

Both cards are fabulous Jen - the teapot card really looks like it has been paper pieced - great effect :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad things have settled down a bit for you Jenny. I love both these cards although I can see that the teapot card is more 'you'. Such a brilliant idea - the newspaper wrapped teapot and cup for a new home card! I do like your other card too - a sheet of postage stamps is always an attractive idea and it certainly doesn't look like a one-layer card at all! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning cards! I think the first one is mor CAS. The teapot is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are fabulous - LOVE your designs and your creativity! Have a great week, hugs Karin

ReplyDeleteOh I think they're both gorgeous Jenny! I know the 2nd card is different for you, but you've done it so well and it's fun to try different styles :o) My style flits about all over the place - I quite envy people who have a definite style of their own! Lisa x
ReplyDeleteTwo beauties, Jenny! That tea cup looks like it's made with newspaper. You've achieved such a realistic look. I love it. The second card is lovely, too. You did a great job with all of your masking. Ann Y.

ReplyDeleteWow jenny two fabulous cards, love the teapot and the second one love the stamps and positioning. So glad you are back in your craft room and james is feeling happier.
ReplyDeleteMarie
I am in total awe that the teapot card is a one-layer. Wow! The teapot looks paper pieced or die cut--really amazing masking. Your second card has such a pretty color scheme!!
ReplyDeleteThese are both gorgeous Jenny but the teapot one is fantastic!! I can imagine this one for sale in a card shop. I wish you'd send your blinking designs to someone!!!! xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is very creative, Jenny! I love your newsprint pot and cup. I like the second card too. Very pretty images and colors.
ReplyDeleteLove both your cards Jenny - they are stunning! Hugs x x
ReplyDeleteThese are both fabulous, Jenny! I love all the text and sponging on them.
ReplyDeleteI like both cards Jenny, although my fave would be the teapot (love a cuppa!) and I've already got my eye on that newspaper script... Glad to hear that James is back at school.
ReplyDeleteBoth great but the Teapot Card is wonderful...it takes the biscuit (groan, that was corny...sorry), will have to look out for that stamp..."want/need" it. I have been playing with newspapers this week for LIM!!! love the look of newspaper print.
ReplyDeleteDiane
I was SO sure this was NOT a one layer card...but, as usual...your creativity made something that "looks" impossible, possible...lovely teapot!! the second one is beautiful, as well!! Love the framed flowers with script...love the color choice, as well. Both simply lovely, Jenny:)!!
