Hi'ya'll,
I'm pleased to say I've managed to get some time in my craft room this morning after having James off school the last three days with... lets just say issues related to his Autism so it's great to have some creative time today and still in time to play along with Less is More this week :0)
Mandi and Chrissie have a colour challenge for us this week NEUTRALS .... wow the thumbnails look amazing, all those yummy browns and creams :0)
I've used the 'Lovely Leaves' set from PTI and used the stepped mount technique again but without the foam tape between this time! The patterned strip is homemade Washi Tape that I've decorated with leaves from the same stamp set. It's quite easy to make with a strip of double sided tape (whatever width you want the tape to be) and tissue paper, I've used tan coloured here.
Simply stick a length of tape to the tissue paper and then trim to the width of the tape or narrower if required. Then decorate with inks and stamps... remembering that pigment inks take longer to dry (ask me how I know that!!!) Peel the backing off and use it on your project :0
This is the video tutorial I used
Top Tip: remember the one layer of tissue is going to be a lot paler than the colour of the folded pack and the shade will change depending on the colour of the base card you're adhering it too :0)
Apologies for not visiting you much over the last few days... hope to rectify that later but for now I have a ton of jobs to do and an ever hopeful mutt sitting by my side wanting a walk.
Thanks for your visit :0)

Wow! Lovely!!
ReplyDeletethis is so lovely...great take on this challenge...
ReplyDeleteSo serene and lovely! I've been practicing with this set and having so much trouble with the leaf placement. I think I'm having trouble because the leaves aren't right on the end of the branches.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally going to try that homemade washi tape idea:) TFS Jenny!

Very beautiful card. Love that color combo. I must try your homemade washi tape technique. And...I've been wanting that PTI stamp set.
ReplyDeleteyour card is the perfect example of simple elegance, jenny!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning. I like how you have used those leaves in such different ways around the card.
ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful and your washi tape just finishes it off. x
ReplyDeleteLove it, love it, love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much
Chrissie

another great card with stepped matting. Have to try the homemade washi tape.
ReplyDeleteHey, you are a busy lady :) No need to apologize for being with your family. Condolences on the autism issues...missing school for them is hard on everyone. I have to head down & help Riley clean his desk...Funny, his teacher seems to think an 11 year old autistic child should be able to organize his own things perfectly on his own. Harumph. But I digress.
ReplyDeleteThe stepped mount technique is gorgeous, and I love your washi! It's the perfect embellie to still stay masculine :)
What a pretty card. i love the over the edge effect!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant card Jenny; so elegant and love the washi tape you've made - so clever!!
ReplyDeleteSo many schools still don't really understand autism and they respond inappropriately to 'issues' that might occur. Strange though that the autistic child is always expected to behave/respond appropriately!! Grrrr!

Fabulous design Jenny and I love the natural colour palette. Thanks for the tips on the washi tape - I must have a go at making some :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I love your beautifully neutral card!
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous card Jenny, glad you had the time to make one, and to visit my blog. I hope James issues have settled down abit. I work with a few autistic children and understand how very frustrated they can get with stuff going on.

Beautiful...now tempted to have a go at making washi tape too :) Yours is great. Know what you mean about jobs....just been making world book day costumes for the kids (I know world book day was last week!!)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Jenny. I love the neutral colors and the way you've stamped your main image. Just gorgeous. :) Ann
ReplyDeleteSuperb...as ever!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much

ReplyDeleteHave not ordered from PTI lately and have been a good girl...considering that I have not done much of crafting lately! Lol! But have been stopping by to see your amazing creations and have been bitten by the Pinterest bug too and so the many baking posts you have been seeing on my blog! Tks so much for stopping by....will try to make something crafty for you next time! :D
This is so, so lovely! I really love the texture...wow!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as ever .... Fab... Hugs Sylvie xx
Great card!
ReplyDeleteDebby
This is so gorgeous Jenny! Love the stamps you've used and great design :o)
ReplyDeleteHope things are ok with James. Hubby's younger brothers (twins) are severely autistic - they don't really communicate at all, and as they've got older one of them has become quite violent (they're 15 now I think). Luckily they seem to enjoy the routine of going to school, although there's no way they'd have been able to manage in a mainstream school. Not sure where I'm going with all this waffle, hope things have settled down a bit now anyway! Hugs, Lisa x
