Well hello fellow crafter's, are you intrigued by the title?.... then read on :)
I have two more cards for the Clean and Simple card class and the first one is also for Less is More this week which is a one layer card and must feature 'Birds'. Now for the love bit..... at the weekend we received the exciting news that our nephew and his girlfriend have got engaged so this helped me to decide on a theme for my birdie card :)
Yes I got inky for this card so something a little different for me, this technique was from day 5 of card class and used Distress inks and the blender tool with a little water added for a watercolour effect. The birds and branch are embossed first using Versafine tuxedo black and clear EP on Watercolour card which was quite nerve-wracking as Versafine dries quickly at the best of times without the help of super absorbent card!!!
I hope Mandi and Chrissie don't mind the branch floating on the card, I added a second for good measure!
This second card is an idea I've had for a few days and is a mid month reminder for the 'New Year, New Start' challenge at St Luke's Charity Card Challenge
It just so happens that today's class is to make your own embellishments whilst keeping it CAS ...they must have read my mind!!
The twine is a great design idea from class so I had to try that too :)
We'd love to see you join in the challenge over at St Luke's... you can recycle anything on your card that was destined for the bin, it doesn't have to be left over from Christmas!
Right best get the first card written and ready to post tomorrow.... looking forward to a family wedding, not had one for a few years now....wonder if they need someone to make the invites????
Thanks for your visit I really appreciate your comments :)

wow I love what everyone is turning out from this class... Your cards are so amazing and fun...great designs..
ReplyDeleteThose black birds look fabulous against that inky background. Gorgeous colors! I'm seeing so many beautiful cards come out of that CAS card class. I love your candy embellishment, too. :) Ann
ReplyDeleteJenny, the love birds are PERFECT for the challenge AND for your newly engaged nephew and his girlfriend! The second card is beautiful...love the dry embossing and the cute "sweet."
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards. I love what you have done with the CAS class project. I have fallen behind, but hope to get caught up. Also, that is such a clever card you made for the St. Luke's challenge. I sent them a batch of cards last week, but will probably sit out this challenge, as I'm working on a Valentines card drive for Children's Hospital. (But I'll be back before long!)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Jenny - I signed up at lunchtime and have just had a go at the patchwork technique.
ReplyDeleteLoving your mid month reminder - I must get one made too.
Off to do another lesson now.

ReplyDeleteSuper cards Jenny, your course sounds fab.

Two lovely cards. The first is a great version of the class card! I'm taking the class as well but I'm working and husband has been in hospital ( home and recovering well)and I haven't made a card yet. I am enjoying it though. Your card may inspire me to "have a go".
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are adorable! Love your Lovebirds and the 3 coloured background. I don't think your second branch is "hanging out there"... I think it is grounding the sentiment!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card...love the birds and can't go wrong with sweets :)
ReplyDeleteCool candy embellishment Jenny.
ReplyDeleteLove your LIM card, such bright colour to cheer up these dark days, and a great engagement card. Nice idea for the sweetie card

Love the card & the colours behind the birds - bright but still CAS.
ReplyDeleteBoth great cards Jenny :o) Love the fun sweetie one but the birds have to be my favourite - the coloured panels and the stamps work perfectly. Lisa x
ReplyDeleteBig congrats to your nephew! Love the inking on the card. The colours are fab and adding the water to the distress inks has a great effect. As for that sweetie it's adorable! Fabulous recycling!
ReplyDeleteI'm kicking myself now for not taking that class...it looks so cool! Your first card is so striking. I thought you used direct-to-paper inking (but couldn't figure out how), so now I'm intrigued! The color scheme is divine! I am also loving your handmade candy. It looks so real. Awesome, girl!
ReplyDeleteTwo fab cards Jenny, I love the sweet on your second card, what a fun embellishment!
ReplyDeleteSmashing card and Congratulations on the family celebration too
