BBQ Apron

I love most of the latest release from Waffleflower... well quite a few sets fell into my shopping basket anyhow *wink* but what to play with first?? Well as soon as I saw the BBQ sayings set I knew I needed to make an apron shaped card.... perfect guys card although, not in this household.... that's my job too!!!

I used a side fold card base and just freehand drew the shapes to cut away, it helps to do one side first and then use that piece to make the opposite side symmetrical. I added a lined background and a stitched pocket to put a few utensils in. It was easier to colour the star image on white card and trim it out.... a more vibrant pop of colour that way:)

The neckstrap and ties are just a piece of jute that's been coated in Multi Matte Medium so I could persuade it to do what I wanted it too. When it comes to Guys aprons the slogan below has to be my favourite, which you could easily recreate with stamps on a shaped card if you so desired!! 😄😄😄

Making a House a....... Church!

I've been exploring the Home Sweet Home dies from MFT, the dies cut out a collection of basic building block shapes and I had a little playtime to see if I could come up with a church because that tall narrow house said 'Tower' to me.....

I kept the colours and design simple..... I love white and Kraft together for wedding cards :)

To make the main body of the church... (think it's called the Nave)... I cut one of the other houses in the set just above the windows...

The doors in the set were too large once I had changed the scale up so I used the arched window shape from the narrow house as a door... looks much better!!
I had to slightly adjust the tree size and shape too and the shrub is half of the topiary tree from the set...

I'm quite pleased with how it turned out :)

Retro Colours

I cannot believe how fast these months are flying by.... May already!! This does mean a new challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts and I have a retro feel for my inspiration card this month using one of the colour palettes...

I already had the idea for this card and when I saw those colours in the middle photo I knew it would work!

I love the retro vase in the Kitschy Kitchen set so I used the matching die to make a mask and then did the same with a circle and one of the rounded squares from the triple peek-a-boo windows die. When they were in place I blended colour over them and then thoroughly enjoyed the moment of peeling them off to reveal the white spaces....

The rest is just stamping and making sure to off set the images with the white spaces a tiny bit..... I love the end result :)

I hope you can join us this month... click here to hop over and see the challenge details :)

Thanks for stopping by :)
