Owl Prints

Hello there,
Hope you've had a lovely Easter weekend? We've been enjoying having Hannah at home... the last time before her Graduation in June... eeek where did that time go???

Anyhow, back to the here and now and I'm sharing a couple of cards over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today.... I love retro colours and prints so I tried to mimic them with this little owl stamp from Lawn fawn...

The coordinating die comes in very handy for this technique..... I use it to make masks then ink the background and stamp the woodgrain pattern before removing them and adding the owls.

Seeing as I had the masks still intact I made a second card... one layer this time and a totally different colour way....

This time I used pigment inks as the card base was off-white and I wanted the colours to stay true. No sentiment on this one.... sometimes it's nice to just keep your options open ;)

More details can be found here as well as links to the stamps used :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Laughing Out Loud

I'm over on the Seven Hills Craft blog today bringing a little bit of laughter to your Monday morning!! I have used the Little Emotions stamp set from Mama Elephant to make a fun and bright card...

I thought these little faces would be fun stamped together inside bold lettering so I chose three laughing faces and went with LOL.  I love when I can mix and match my stamp sets so I went back to Lil'Inkers Snarky Sentiments and found this little gem ..... a perfect match :)

The lettering stencils I've used have been in my stash for ages and I love the chunky Comic book feel but you could easily use a font from your computer to make a stencil :)

Thanks for stopping by, hope it brightened your day :)

All the Young Dudes

Hi there,

I'm over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a couple of cards for the young dudes in our lives :) I'm using another of the stamp sets from Avery Elle's recent release, this set is Stoked and it's all about sports and hobbies...

I love that these guys are simple figures to colour and add your own pattern detail to if you want too. I made a simple scene using some Paper Smooches dies and hand cut a snow ramp for his high flying antics. Hehehe... love how his tongue is sticking out :)

I also used the drummer in the stamp set and used the dies with some funky foam to make him into a shaker element...

The dies were a great help, I used a circle die to cut an aperture in the bass drum in the top and foam layer...

I used black seed beads inside the drum and a layer of vellum with the sentiment embossed onto it for a realistic looking drum skin. Ahhh this is such a fun set to colour and create with :)

More details and links to supplies can be found over on the shop blog here.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great day :)

Hands in the Air!!

Hi there, I'm over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today sharing a couple of cards made using Avery Elle's Hats Off stamp set and oh what a fab set it is....

...it's those raised arms that got me, such a fun and useful stamp :) For example, how about a group of friends or party-goers wishing someone a Happy Birthday? I've stamped and die cut the group of arms twice but trimmed one set apart so I could swap them around in order to change it up a bit... not as painful as it sound honest.. lol ;)

I even made the tall guy or gal at the back hold a birthday placard !!
At 6' that would most probably be me :)

I also made a wedding card using those arms... they look like guests launching a cloud of confetti into the air.. yes?!

I kept the colouring monochrome so the pastel confetti would not get lost, which I added with polychrome pencils. I love how the oily surface resists the black ink when stamping the sentiment :)

This is such a fun and different stamp set and great to colour too.... practising those different skin tones :) More details and the products used can be found over at the Seven Hills Crafts blog here

March Sketch Challenge and a Special Birthday

Hi there,
I'm playing catch up to let you know about the new challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts for the month of March. We have a sketch this time around which has a lot of scope for interpretation...

I have to admit that Mr Mojo was absent when I made my card and I went for a fairly literal copy of the sketch...

I used the MFT Balloon Strings background on its side to make a wavy ocean and then cut slits along the lines to allow the critters to pop their heads through the water... in hindsight I'm wondering if I should have gone for the more traditional blue ocean and embossed the lines in white!! Hmm the jury's still out on that one!

If you'd like to join in with this months challenge just click here for more details and the linky tool.

Monday was my brothers birthday.. yep, he's a leap year baby and this year was the big 40 so I had to make him a reminder card with the appropriate numbers on it. I practised some no-line water-colouring with this little guy from Stamping Bella....

This is Nacho and on the packaging he's coloured brown but my brothers little dog is a black and white terrier x so I went for the caricature style image.... I thought that expression was perfect for his card too ;)

and here's the inside... just to make him feel better ;)
