Fly Away!!

Hello Monday!!.... at least we're still on Easter hols here so no rushing about going on in this house :0)

I was inspired by the talented design team at CAS(e) this sketch when I needed to make a card this weekend for a family member who's retiring overseas very soon.....

It's occasions like this when I'm so glad I make cards because I'm not sure I'd find something so bespoke in the shops!!!
I went through many ideas before settling on this simple design... gotta love vellum for its ability to add detail whilst remaining translucent although it can be it's downfall too!!! That swoosh of vellum wasn't wanting to play nicely and lay flat so those clouds hide small pieces of adhesive tape to fix that problem !!!

This card fits nicely in with the Far Away challenge at Addicted to Cas too :0)

Apologies for the fuzziness of the photo!!....I didn't realise until I was editing it that the camera had just randomly decided to reset the settings I usually use :0(
Thanks for stopping by :0)

A Retro Runway

I was going to start off by saying "this is the first time playing along with the Runway Inspired challenge" but I have a blog label for it so I must have joined in before now.... it was ages ago though so this feels like the first time!!! The colourful funky print on the dress caught my eye and reminded me of a stamp that still lay unused in my stash .....

I love the sketchiness of the dress and stamp but after trying to colour it with Prisma-pencils I gave up and went for sponging blocks of colour instead which I think looks much more effective and more like the fabric too :0)  To make the shadow speech bubble I applied soft Granite ink through a diagonal striped stencil and the negative die cut.... it's kind of clever how your eyes fill in the edges to make the bubble shape!!!!
A few splatters of ink and then a huge amount of time pushing enamel dots around to see where they looked the best ( that's why I hardly use them!!) at least the splattering is sort of out of my control as to where it lands!!
Anyhow, this is for our Nephews birthday next week, he's too young to remember anything about the 70's or 80's but it seems that's not a necessary qualification to appreciate them !!!

Thanks for stopping by :0)

A New Monthly Prize Challenge at MtDS!!!

Today is the launch of a new monthly challenge over at Make the Day Special Stamp store and there is a prize on offer too!!!... we all like a prize don't we :0)
Tara has so expertly explained all the details of the challenge here but before you hop over I'd like to share my inspiration card for this months first theme which is a nice easy one... Anything Goes :0)

I tried my hand at a 'new to me' technique and used white pigment ink to repeatedly stamp the dotty pattern from the Kissables 1 Backgrounds across a piece of white card and then over stamped with Botanicals 1&2 in dye ink when the white dots had dried.... what a fun effect!!!
You're also witnessing me break out some sequins too... it's a trend that has been around for a few months now and to be honest I've resisted because I just couldn't decide which colours or finishes to choose.... ridiculous eh??? I'm not good with those type of decisions so when Doodlebug came out with a rainbow assortment in the cutest little screw top containers I was sold :0)

Okay so hop on over and check out the challenge and prize details, look forward to seeing you in the gallery..... oh and as it's also Anything Goes over at Paper Smooches Sparks this week I'll pop this in over there too :0)
