A Retro Runway

I was going to start off by saying "this is the first time playing along with the Runway Inspired challenge" but I have a blog label for it so I must have joined in before now.... it was ages ago though so this feels like the first time!!! The colourful funky print on the dress caught my eye and reminded me of a stamp that still lay unused in my stash .....

I love the sketchiness of the dress and stamp but after trying to colour it with Prisma-pencils I gave up and went for sponging blocks of colour instead which I think looks much more effective and more like the fabric too :0)  To make the shadow speech bubble I applied soft Granite ink through a diagonal striped stencil and the negative die cut.... it's kind of clever how your eyes fill in the edges to make the bubble shape!!!!
A few splatters of ink and then a huge amount of time pushing enamel dots around to see where they looked the best ( that's why I hardly use them!!) at least the splattering is sort of out of my control as to where it lands!!
Anyhow, this is for our Nephews birthday next week, he's too young to remember anything about the 70's or 80's but it seems that's not a necessary qualification to appreciate them !!!

Thanks for stopping by :0)
Jenny x

Stamps used : Retro - Kaisercraft, Celebrate - Avery Elle, Woot Woot - CASual Fridays

  19. This is seriously, seriously cool! You totally captured the feel of the dress in that small strip. Love all the details - the speech bubble shadow, the splatter, the enamel dots - all perfect! And I'm glad I'm not the only one that spends so much time on gem placement! LOL!
