Late to the New Year Party!!!

Hellooo-weeee :0)

Is there anybody still there?? Sorry for the long unscheduled abscence, we are all okay, crafting just got pushed to the bottom of the pile before and over Christmas but now it's time to drag this little crafting place into 2013 and wish you all a Happy New Year...... I'm sure you're all sick of looking at that Christmas card in my last post just as much as I am too :0)

Anyhow, it was the one layer challenge this week at Less is More that caught my eye, probably because I don't have a wide choice of stamps that come under the exercise/sport theme but this cute and rather neglected stamp came to mind...

Now this looks like my kind of exercise... it's certainly what James loves doing in our garden although not today because the trampoline is covered in snow, although if you're wrapped up well that could be quite an interesting spectacle!!!
I dug my Prisma pencils out to colour these fun-loving hedgies from Little Claire and apart from a slight smudge of colour I'm kind of happy with the result seeing as I haven't used them for a while.
Not really sure how to do sky with Prismas but I think it'll pass for a bit of blue :0)
Sentiment is from this set by Imagine that

I also wanted to share the news that I'm joing the DT at Craft Stamper magazine :0) I was so excited to recieve an email from Katy Fox a couple of months ago and now it's been officially announced here I can tell you all too..... I'll be joining some talented designers including Chrissie to bring some CAS stamping to a couple of new features, how exciting :0)

I have posted a few cards on the Make the Day Special website over the CHristmas period that I just never got round to showing you so I thought I'd pop them in here.
The first three are all using Paper smooches stamps and the last are Avery Elle stamps, all available in the store here and check out the blog here

Well that's enough from me... time for lunch and then a dog walk in the snow and it's just started to fall again!! What fun :0)

Thanks for looking and promise it wont be so long til the next post!!

Fuity and Sweet

Hi Everyone...

....it seems that using my DT post at Make the Day Special blog is the only way to play along with challenges again this week so I've got two covered with this card....

...yep you probaly guessed it's CAS(E) this Sketch#4 and CASology which have given us the trigger word SUGAR.... fruit have sugar in them right??!! I included the word sweet in the sentiment in case the fruit  link was to tenuous  :0)
I wanted to try using my Prismas on coloured card again after being inspired by Danielle's brilliant tutorial here... she makes it look so easy and I really found her colouring technique helped me too, although a bit more practice wouldn't go amiss :0)
I think I should have included an extra grape/blueberry thingy somewhere but it's too late now...just looks a little unbalanced to me..anyhow here are the challenge graphics...

Hope you find some craft time this weekend and thanks for popping by :0)

Yellow Fever!!

Hello again... I know, two posts in one day...I'm not very organised am I!!!

If you are here for the Make the Day Special Blog hop
click here for my card :0)

Well the reason for my return so soon is.... I have another card using yellow, yep shoot me down in flames!, I say its a colour I don't use often and then make two cards in one week with it!!
It turns out this week that Annabelle Stamps are wanting cards made with Lemon,Kraft and White so I thought this would be a great time to try using my Prismas on coloured card stock because I just love how it looks.

I've been following the challenges for some time through Therese and Marion ,who are two members of the super talented design team and they make the stamp sets look even yummier than they already appear and I need want to add some to my stamp collection!!

The card is a CASE of JJ's card here, I just love the cut away panel leaving the stamped flower as a bridging piece so I used the flowers from a There She Goes stamp set called Kindred Spirits to recreate the effect and coloured them with my Prismacolours which take very well on SU crumb cake card by the way :0)

I'm hoping this will be acceptable for the Less is More challenge this week because my white space has turned to Kraft coloured space, still a pop of yellow though :0)

Whilst I have the chance I just want to mention my 2 sq inches of fame on page 88 of  the current edition of Papercraft Inspirations :0)  It's was exciting to get an email from them asking to showcase my Jelly Bean card which I made for the masking challenge at LiM....I am in great company on the page with so many of my blogging friends being featured too.
Congrats ladies :0)

I'd best be off now but in the words of Arnie... I'll Be Back!!
Tomorrow morning to be precise with the new challenge over at CASual Fridays.

See you there :0)

A One Layer Poppy

Well the month of May is upon us and this means a new challenge over at St Luke's Charity Card Challenge blog and what a challenge it is this month..... A One Layer Card!!!
Your card can be for any occasion, all we ask is that you do not add any layers..... you can stamp, draw, colour, emboss or any other technique you might think of as long as you do it on the card base :0)
If it's a new style of card to you, please give it a try..... lets face it a one layer card is easier and cheaper to send as well especially with the postal prices having just gone up in the UK too!!

I went with a very CAS design and used the sketch from Less is More too......

I love colouring images...yep I was never far away from a colouring book when I was a young girlie, and I really wanted to try shading a realistic study of a flower so these poppies from 'There She Goes' caught my eye recently and this months challenge seemed the perfect chance to try them out with my newest crafting addition.... Prismacolour pencils :0)

I'm pretty pleased with my first attempt... I have to say the photo doesn't do it any justice because it looks much more 3D in real life!!
The edged square I stamped the poppy onto is a very old Hero Arts stamp that I've hardly used and looks like this......

..... yep that's the price label still on it, shows what little use its had but I reckon it's earnt its place in the stamp draws now :0)
It's not the most original take on the photo inspiration but I'm also entering this card into the Virginia's View challenge over at Lily pad cards :0)
Oh and one for Simon Says Stamp which is anything goes this week!

So please join us this month at St Luke's with your one layer cards...you never know it could be a style you enjoy making!! We have two stamps donated by Lili of the Valley to be won...

... and of course, not forgetting the aim of the challenge blog, to raise much needed funds for St Luke's Hospice by donating your cards to be sold and support the much needed care given to patients and their families.
Please visit the blog to see the rest of the DT cards and info about the hospice as well as the address to send your cards too. My fellow teamie, Deborah is taking this month off whilst she and her family un-pack and settle into their new home across the pond... hope your enjoying discovering all your stash again Deb :0)

Sorry for such a long post and thanks for making it this far :0)
Look forward to seeing your cards
Jenny X
