Summer Splash

It's an appropriate sentiment on my card today as I haven't updated the ol' blog for a while although it's not summer yet.... it hasn't been quite that long!!

I had to have this fun new set from Avery Elle.... what a great theme for a stamp set and you get a pool in the die set as well... SOLD!! The ring floatie just looked like an O to me which gave me a light bulb moment .... Avery Elle's letter balloons would make great floaties too if you chop the tied knots off of them.
The terrace is a heat embossed hexagon background from MFT which has been sponged over with peach coloured ink and the pool is Distress Oxide inks mixed with water and smooshed onto water colour cardstock.... they are quite effective as water :)

I wanted to make the pool larger than the original design so the letters would fit comfortably, by allowing it to be larger than the card base, I could cut the pool edge and make it any size and shape I wanted.

This lady is stretching out on a sun lounger made from the diving board and ladder die included in the set... the planters are my own design, the scene just needed that touch of greenery :) I think all that's missing is a glass of something bubbly in their hands... now that's chillin :)
