Running for Sixty!!

Hello there, back to dust off the ol' blog..... I'm having too much fun in the sun!!

I'm sharing my MtDS DT blog post card today because it just so happens to fit the 'Run' theme at CASology!!.... what are the chances of that?? It's a birthday card for my Brother-in-Law who turns Sixty at the end of this week and has decided to mark the occasion later this month by running a Half Marathon..... in Reykjavik!!!

So the card had to have a running theme... the trainers from Paper Smooches Hope set were just the job and I decided to make the centre panel look like the 'runner number' on a running vest so the safety pins came in handy too.... I just chopped a bit away from them to make it look like they are attached :0)
Well what a coincidence that CASology should have this cue word timed just right!!
                                                                 

Well I best get a move on myself.... lots to do as we count down to our family Hols :0)

PS Sparks 'Anything Goes' Challenge

It's Anything Goes week at the Paper Smooches Sparks blog so I hope you'll have fun getting inky and join us :0)

My card features the new Blossoming Buds stamp set and the Dots and Dashes dies.

For this card I tried embossing  in white on white vellum and then colouring on the reverse with copics and promarkers...... I have to say I love the subtle effect :0)
It's one of those techniques that starts off looking bad until you turn the vellum over to see the neat colouring!!!

PS Sparks Picture Perfect Challenge

Happy Sunday morning to you :0)

The new challenge is up at the Paper Smooches Sparks blog and this week is an inspiration photo for you..

I'm not normally quick with these type of challenges but as soon as I saw those soft pastel stripes on the jars I knew which set I wanted to use..... I basically made a pretty literal translation from photo to card!!!

I've used Positive Strokes and a sentiment from Just a Note.... this is really quite CAS for me but I love the fresh uncluttered design and these colours fit well with the colour palette at The Card Concept too, so I'll pop it in over there as well :0)

CASEing myself for MtDS

                                                            

Yesterday was the start of the new challenge at Make the Day Secial blog and this month Tara has given us a great challenge... Go back to your first year of blogging/crafting and chose a card to CASE ..oh, and you have to share your old card with us too :0)....... it's quite an eye-opener looking back through old blog posts and cards but I chose this one from Feb 2011...

                                                        

and here is my CASE'd version using Lawn Fawn's Home Sweet Home....

I thought I'd pick out the two bird houses and the embossed frame and shrink them down to a smaller area on the card front.... I love those cute houses in pretty polka dots :0)

I also wanted to share my DT blog project from Monday which is something a little different!! I have decided to dip my toe into the world of Project Life or pocket scrapbooking as it's otherwise known but I wanted to have a go at using my stamps to make my own Core and Journal cards...... it's great fun :0)

If you're interested in what stamps I've used, the details are here on my DT blog post......  I'm really pleased with them, great to find more uses for this ever-growing stamp collection I have *wink*
Now I just need to stop procrastinating on which photos to start with and get making my album up!!!
