Pop Up Herd

I do enjoy making an interactive card.... but they cause me to scratch my head working out mechanisms and it has been known for me to take cards apart to see how it's done!!

Well this simple die from Mama Elephant makes pop up cards much simpler and I knew that the little fence was needing a few farm animals inside it....

I followed the video tutorial on how to assemble the fence and attach it to the card base and then added the animals along with a few daisies to complete my meadow...

The thing with pop up cards is how to decorate the front and lead the recipient into
the surprise.... this is what I came up with....

Oh yes... it had to be a pun to match the one on the inside 😉

I've already been through my stamps to earmark other suitable creatures and objects
for this little fence die... such fun 😊

In the Pink!!

I have a couple of DT cards to share from the last few weeks and they both seem to feature pink so why not blog them together?? 😉

First up is a cupcake in a pink cake case... definitely a calorie free cake so perfect for anyone...

I had to get the Sprinkle turnabout background in use... they are such a clever concept and I love the random effect... because they overlap it doesn't automatically shout repeated pattern. The lush cake is from Winnie and Walter, nice and large to try some no-line water colouring and I'm pretty happy with the result 😊

Another sentiment dilemma!! What and where?? I really should think my cards through in advance but they usually just evolve. I opted for gold embossed as you can see, which looks rather nice for these fine lined, handwritten fonts from MFT don't you think? 😊

Now onto a different sort of pink.... flamingo's!!

He looks kinda lonely and I'm sure he'd be with a big flock.... we'll pretend they're just out of shot.
Flamingos are a funny shade of pink... a nicer shade of pink if you ask me so I used my favourite pink inkpad which is Blushing Bride from Stampin Up 😉

This was quite a simple card... first one to be made after a long crafting break over Christmas so it did well to not hit the bin.... first ones usually do 😉 Love the sentiments in this set too!!

Retro Coffee

You know when you buy a stamp set with an idea in mind how to use it?? Well I got round to putting it into ink and card and I'm so pleased how it worked out :)

I know... it's quite bright but that's what the retro style dictates and distress oxide inks give it a fabulous chalky matt texture too. I used the dies first to make masks before adding my colour blocks then purposefully stamped the images off-set for that iconic look.

I added detail to the coffee pot using a simple diamond shaped mask before adding the colour, then used the negative part to make black diamonds on top of the orange ink.

Great quote too although some would say it's never to early for wine but that's a whole different debate ;)
This card also features on the Seven Hills Crafts blog with a couple of 'extra how' to photos :)

Summer in the Frame

I'm looking forward to the warmer weather... it's been a colder winter this year and we're currently having another blast from the north, luckily we haven't got the snow this time :) I channelled those warmer thoughts onto my card, creating a summer meadow complete with flowering stems bursting into the frame..

I love the rectangle frame die in this set from Concord & 9th, so versatile and delicate... and a lot easier than cutting it freehand!! The tall stems are tucked behind it and they are cut from a piece of card I had sponged with various shades of green... love how each one is different :)

I wasn't sure where to put the sentiment... I always have that trouble!! I popped it onto a banner and then tucked an extra leafy stem behind it to break up that white space ;)
