...another Big Birthday Celebration!!!

There's another surprise party going down because today is Maria's birthday and it's one that ends in zero..... so I'm joining fellow crafters in blogland to wish her a Happy Birthday :0)

I wasn't sure if Maria would like her age plastered across a card so I included it in a mathematical way using some new dies from Wplus9 :0)
If you'd like to join in too, Shirley B is hosting a link up party just here on her blog.... thanks for inviting me along Shirley and I hope you have a fantastic birthday Maria ...remember its just a number!!!!

Enough to make you Blush!!!

I've bought some fabulous Art Impressions stamps thanks to Judith's amazing talent at showcasing them on her blog. They appeal to my sense of humour and it just so happens that one will fit in nicely at CASology this week too....... the cue word is 'Blush'

I cannot help but smile when I look at these two ladies, I wish I was in on the joke too :0)
The artwork is brilliant and I love the choice of funny sentiments in the set too. I'm not one for colouring 'people' stamps but the simplicity of these won me over so I used the packaging as a guide and tried the simple 'hard edged' shading with my Promarkers.... have to say I love it :0)
These ladies are larger than life so not much else is needed on the card which is perfect for a CAS card challenge and as for the sentiment..... ermmmm...... well, I'd blush wouldn't you!!!??

Ovals and Banners!!

Here's my take on this weeks CASe this Sketch which, as you can see, I went with quite literally and ended up making my own version of Shabby Chic... I think????. I don't use ovals much in my card-making despite owning a set of oval dies so I thought I'd give the sketch a go...

Less is More are asking us to use stencilling or masking this week for the challenge so I showed my oval dies some love and made a mask to stamp Mama Elephants Water Blooms through and then used another to cut the flowery panel out. Hmmm.... then the banners gave me a problem, I didnt want them to compete with the flowers so one is a negative cut in the green card and the other is vellum embossed with stitching .... I like how they turned out.
In case you're wondering, the real stitching is "vintage" on purpose... it was quicker to do and looks much more like my sewing would do if I used a machine *wink*

Anita's Baaaa-lated Birthday Bash!!!

Hi there
I'm a bit late to the party... well, we all are really, but today a group of crafting friends are sending belated birthday wishes to the super talented Anita :0)
We've been very ably organized by the lovely Bev and Darnell and you can find a linky tool at Darnells blog if you'd like to join us with a card for Anita too.

Anita has an awesome CAS style and is always ready to explore new techniques so in honour of that I tried my hand at watercolouring with a proper brush and pot of water!!! .... Oh, and I had to slip in a pun too *wink*
I hope this is such a lovely surprise for you Anita and thanks for all your visits to my blog, it's been fun getting to know you through your blog too :0)

You Old Dinosaur!!!

I've been having fun with a new Lawn Fawn set called Critters from the Past for my DT blog post at Make the Day Special. I love creating with these sets, colouring and making scenes has to be my favourite type of crafting :0)

I wanted the sentiment to unfold with the card so I went with a zig zag style card, scoring half an A4 piece of card at 9 and 18cm. As you can see it's a great set for the older generation as well as the youngsters and with all the different alphabets Lawn Fawn has, its easy to make up your own sentiment.... however cheeky it might be *wink* :0)

Naturally this one will have to go in the sale box as I can't send it....... I'm much to young to be considered a dinosaur!!!

Thanks for stopping by :0)

Cheers!!

Evening all :0)
I didn't get chance to share my MtDS blog card on here with you yesterday but lets go for it now!! I have a photo tutorial too which I have copied and pasted from yesterdays post to save me staring at this screen for too long :0)

As soon as I saw that large 'Cheers!' in Avery Elle's stamp set of the same name, I knew exactly which background stamp I wanted to use with it!!!  Yep, the Hero Arts Tiny Ink Spots reminds me more of Tiny Champagne Bubbles and embossed on this gold metallic card in Judikins Chablis EP they really look the business :0) *happy sigh*..... Oh, and I also wanted to try the jaunty angle before it becomes history ....I'm always running behind with trends :0)

I wasn't sure how well the sentiment would stamp and emboss over the heat embossed background so I thought I'd try masking a space for it. Armed with my iPhone I made a photo tutorial because its a lot easier than describing the process...hope these photos make sense of my waffling :0)

It all started with a mask made from a Post it Note....

I made pencil marks on the back of the gold card so I could line it up on the background stamp because the streams of bubbles needed to be vertical...I know I made life difficult with the jaunty angle but hey!!... I stuck with it *wink* :0) You can see what I mean in the photo below about the pencil lines...

When stamps are this big I put my card to the rubber, so with the mask still in place I used Versamark ink and stamped the tiny spots bkgd before applying powder liberally across the card front, I left the mask in place still at this point to stop any glue residue underneath the Post it Note from grabbing the embossing powder!!

...and Voila!!! Hold breath and carefully remove mask with tweezers....... and heat emboss, phew :0)

Love how you can see the masked space in the background...

Now the trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig comes into play to get that sentiment positioned correctly.... It is easier to see than you think :0) I used a 'new to me' combo for black embossing which is the new Memento Luxe ink in Tuxedo Black and Stampin Up's black embossing powder..... Best Result Ever is all I can say. The luxe inks are juicy and slow drying so be careful not to smudge but they're great for embossing :0)

heres the finished card again to save you scrolling back up :0)

Thats quite enough from me...hope it was easy to follow :0)
